She was my number two. Would have been so nice for her to see Hawke bring so much respect back to the family.

Daveth... the first time I played DA:O I replayed the joining several times hoping it was a random 1 in 4 that he lived or something... the voice acting was great and he has my kind of humor... he's a guy I would be friends with in real life... it would have been a nice change to have a normal, down-to-earth guy in the party
Did you like him more than Duncan?

I liked him differently than Duncan. Duncan was more of a leader and the heart of the Wardens. However, if Duncan had survived (and let's face it, we never found his actual body .. just sayin)... my Warden wouldn't have been put in the leadership role and grown into the person that could shove a blade into the head of an Archdemon and kill it... then again, if it would have shut Alistair up.....
Another post I read a long time ago said that Daveth DID survive.. that he faked taking a drink and dying... that when the coast was clear, he jumped up and ran to his village.. aka Lothering... grabbed his mother and sister and fled before the Darkspawn horde arrived... little did we know, his last name was Hawke.... so yeah, that's the story I go with in my mind LOL

Why do people want duncan back? In a lot of the starts, Duncan could save you without any effort on his part, yet he still required you to join the wardens. Hell, in a couple of starts, you didn't need his help but he still forced you to join.
Not sure what your point is. Duncan wasn't in Ferelden to solve political squabbles, save your BFF, or even be nice to you He was there to stop a Blight, and get the best recruits he could, regardless of their feelings on the matter. He was being polite by not starting out with The Right of Conscription and giving some folks a choice initially, but he was willing to do whatever it took to get his recruits. All that mattered to him was that someone with Warden blood stabbed the Archdemon to death. Everything else was secondary.

I'd like Gaxkang back as my mage companion and a varterral as a mount.

And in DA2, Saemus or the sibling that gets killed by the ogre at the beginning. I want to see some interactions between Bethany and Carver

Whether they would have then died at Ostagar is another issue.

My point was that he isn't our friend, or ally. Why, of all the people you can bring back, would you choose someone that forced you to drink poison?TK514 wrote...

You kind of make him sound like Jim Jones... I'm not sure that's an accurate portrayal... I wouldn't bring him back simply because all decisions would then be taken out of my Warden's hands.. she would become a drone who takes orders from a guy that never tells you the details, like.. I dunno, oh by the way, you have 30 years to live and this is how you kill an archdemon... I mean for some origins you have weeks to talk to him on your trip from "wherever" to Ostagar. What the hell did you talk about in those weeks? The weather? The scenery? I'm sure my Warden would have asked "so... what exactly do I do as a Grey Warden?" and although dipstick Alistair was ok with "You'll see"... my Warden, especially my elven alienage Warden, would not have accepted that as an answer...
ok, sorry that was so long...

commoners no closure with Leske. He goes from being your best friend
to just one day "lolz, I'm gonna kill you now, bro." Nothing else
said. No drama, no moment of reflection, no reasoning with him.
Which reminds me. Fergus's family deserves a mention, I think. Poor guy. He might be teryn, but to lose your whole family in one night... well, except the warden, of course.

That's true, but also applies to a LOT of characters. Must be something to do with all the death in Thedas.
Her claim to fame for me was being the only one of 6 people to fail the Joining at Turnip Keep.
