@Thekomandorshepard: I didn't say that mages alive didn't cause damage. I said that it doesn't mean that they'd lead to destroying the world. So far that happened only once, with the Blight. What you stated are reasons to use a method to prevent danger, like Circles, not killing all of them. But we'll probably disagree on this matter, so it's better to move on.

Then demons have a field day as every mundane suddenly gets the powers demons crave and none of the experience.

Once? Well one abomnation can cause end of the world... and how well circles work i saw it both were full of abomnations.Almost happened in da redemption... and well guess who is behind torn veil only mage can open it...

I think cause the end of the world is a bit of an exaggeration.

Mages have, themselves, the responsibility for keeping their kind "compatible" with society.
Templars are redundant, and an obstacle for mages to shoulder their own burden.

Mages can enter the Fade consciously, yes. As as far as I know they don't have the power to tear the Veil apart.
And as Veruin said, a lone abomination isn't a threat for the whole world.

Allow Oxmen and Dwarfs to become Knights of the Order and watch them cut down the rebel Mages with their superior technology(if possible) and superior resistance to magic, respectfully.

Tevinter mages could go to the fade sure but only mages could do that and can i doubt that local city guard did that in rage because someone stole his bread...

Short answer, we need a better circle, one that has a tad bit more autonomy for the mages (by which I mean given them a way which they can challenge Templar decisions deemed unfair or overzealous), but still has Templars to keep the crazier mages in line in case the mages fail to police themselves.

So afer we recieved the obligatory "kill all teh mages" solution from our komander, it's time for a real, workable, and logical solution.

I suggest some version of Jim Butcher's White Council, reinforced with warriors trained in Templar magic(various forces which will work to check and balance each other), and a similar yet more relevant version of the Seven Laws Of Magic.

Exemples would be:
  • "Thou shalt not enthrall another."
  • "Thou shalt not reach beyond the borders of life."
  • And "Thou shalt not murder another to power magic."
There are of course other aspects to deal with, but these are the basics.

Edit: For anyone not familiar with the Dresden Files, if you break the laws of magic there is one punishment, a very final one.

YES. YES. A MILLION TIMES YES. Another Butcher fan!!!!!!
[*]Edit: Question: Perhaps take the 7th law and apply it to demons...something to the effect of: Thou shalt not reach beyond the Veil.

We should allow people who doesn't have a major issue with Mages in the Templars also

Mages always reach beyond the veil, so that's out.
That said, laws that deal with demonic issues are indeed a must.

Get em all together by a campfire on a summer night, get some  good cigaweeds and let their problems sort 'emselves out.

Yes, some R&R would do wonders to release the brooms that got stuck in certain behinds.

Tear the Veil and see what happens! Oh wait. Nevermind. Ummm... Make them have a silent time out then thumb wrestle?

Both factions are being idiots. Seriously.

For me the solution to the mage/templar problem would be to remove the mandatory part of the harrowing. If a person has magical talents but are not the strongest of people they should be allowed to live out their life in the tower without being forced to undergo a test they will most likely fail or be made tranquil. These people would of course require closer observation then the rest but even so the circles should also open up to the public and allow the family of mages to visit regularly.

Those mages who do take the Harrowing and show they can be trusted should be allowed to come and go as they please with the only limit being that they do need to check in from time to time to make sure everything is as it should be. Other mages who are not deemed strong enough to survive on their own without templar protection/guards should still be allowed to travel outside the circles but simply have templars along to make sure nothing goes wrong.

There would still be restrictions and mages might still complain but once the abuse stop and it becomes more like a home then a prison I believe the mages will have no right to complain. They are already better of then most of the poor civilians outside the circles.

Haha so you thnik that if you put law that bans something then peoples won't do that and who will punish them?
For breaking law If mage do that is already death and yet many mages are blood mages. So do you will create army of blood mages to fight other blood mages?
No there is little things that can't stop blood mage and for good reason everyone in tevinter goes for blood magic.
Demon on other hand don't care about laws and you won't force them follow your law because they will cursh you like potato.

If you want make sure that law will work you will have to enforce others to it...

Simple mages can't be controled because even if you change them into personification of love they can snaps in any moment and turn into unstoppable creature that you can't reason with or in some cases only when you are stronger.

This is how we can describe abomnation vs law fight
