Just let them kill each other :3
Seriously though I think a revamped circle with more autonomy is a better choice. Locking all mages in towers and treating them like criminals instead of people just fosters animosity and will inevitably lead to rebellion. The Templars should no longer be their guardians/guards. It needs to be a group that's A.) Not drug addicts and B.) Outside of chantry control.

If you wan't have control mages you need someone to enforce that without lyrium you can't have anti-magical ability and can't enforce. And giving more freedom when even strict circles didn't worked when it comes about protecting world from mages is rather bad idea.

WTF is the world? Mages are a part of it no? Everything is only natural.

Demons and darkspawn sure aren't.

Bad answer.
Any solution that ignores 99% of population is already criticly flawed.

You have grand ideas, but no details.
Like having a great idea for the game, but no actual game design document or fleshed out game mechanics. And no funds while we're at it.

You're totaly ignoring various isseus - economical, logistical, social and political.

Turn the circle system into the Jedi academy system. Seriously. Jedi and mages parallel one another almost perfectly. Young people are identified, taken from their families, taken to isolated locations...

Difference: Being a Jedi is an honored tradition. The apprentices are educated, and prepared for their difficult life of temptations. People WANT to be Jedi. Sure some fall to the darkside(become bloodmages/abominations). However, the Jedi actively fight against these threats.
Mages are abused/imprisoned/isolated/beat down/controlled.

Have the circles become places of reverence, education and preparation. Charge the mages with policing their own bloodmages/abominations. Having one group in domination of the other will ALWAYS end in abuse and failure/

When i meant world i mean mankind and other races... mages are danger for everything and if you want be literal demons aren't part of the world well at least not thedas only fade and mages are demons magnet so it still have sense.

And thus not the same world, at least not in the same sense. It's not like demons and spirits actually walked hand in hand with mortals.

If there was no veil, then what separated the two?

Pour all possible resources into both mages and templars/not mage haters investigating and trying to find a way to block demon possession or to find a way to remove a mage's magic abilities without removing their emotions. Not have just one tranquil mage look into it in the middle of nowhere.

You mean besides the two sides of the veil being build on two fundementally different principles?

The Chantry claims that the Maker erected the Veil to separate Thedas from the Fade. If there was no Veil to begin with, what kept Spirits from entering the mortal plane?

There was no mortal plane. This was created with the Veil. How can there be a mortal plane without mortals to populate it?

Yavanna mentions that there was a "Time before the veil, when dragons ruled the skies." That is what I am referring to.

I'm noticing something about you. You always just shoot down my idea and that's it. You never actually throw your own idea out there, your own solution. You don't add to the discussion, you just try to knock down everything I say.

How about you share your own solutions instead of just bashing mine? Saying "no, bad idea" without sharing your own ideas just makes you look like a hater.

As I said the Fade and Thedas exist on fundementally different principles. Even in areas were the veil is thorn or weakend Demon and spirits can't enter Thedas without possesing something physical first, in their natural forms they can't strut around the world, that's why it's unnatural.

That doesn't imply that there was a mortal plane during these times.

How is it that despite the fact chantry is effectively in control of magical research for so long, the only anti-demon magic Thedas has is the litany of what's-her-name?

No anti-demon wards? No anti-possesion enchantments?
For every action there is reaction; and if there is darkness, it's only recognisable because there is also light. If there is powerful demonic magic, there is a reason to assume that there are also strong magics that are related to the opposite side.

So why is it that we see no action from the chantry, that is aside from tries to preserve a status quo that coincidentaly leaves it in charge of everything?

But they can. If the Veil is torn, demons don't need a physical host, right? They can manifest physically and cross the Veil.
