Truth be told the only actual solution is a return to the status quo.

@Sebastian: I don't remember Sebastian to be an extremist. What did it make you hate him?

I don't think people like Sebastian's genuinely goodhearted nature. It makes them feel inadequate.

From what I read in other threads, I'd say some people hated him because he's a member of the Chantry. Si remember reading posts of his negative aspects that are completely false.

Pretty much that have more common with that he can't shut up about it like anders and fenris they were heated because of that as well so doing him a martyr for chantry is rather weak argument.

I haven't seen any pro-templars condem Karras or Alrik for the **** they did. In fact I remember reading some who agreed with Alirk.

What are you expect with game that have save import either they will give you solution to change that but won't allow you import in next game or they will put smiliar outcomes because they won't change too much in next game for example pro-templars and mages...

A system where only mages are allowed to wield supreme executive power; it's just a benevolent magocracy.

Plus, their system has lead to them losing their homeland twice. It's not very reliable.

Hi, fellow mages. I am totally not a Templar and I want to join your rebellion. Could I hear how you plan to defeat the Order?
For the Chant... I mean, freedom!

This argument is a fallacy and I think you know it.

Their system didn't lead to them losing their homeland. War with Tevinter and Orlais/Exalted March did, and they lost both wars.

And to the victor goes the spoils.

We don't really know how their system really worked in Arlathan and the Dales, though. And I doubt it's the same as the dalish clan system.

I don't know how many Dalish clans there are, but the two we've interacted with are both hideously irresponsible with magic / demons.

And then there's the entire nomad thing that wouldn't work as a lot of the commoners are farmers/rely on agriculture as opposed to the hunter/gatherer system, the Dalish system of change being "Leave for another clan or kill the Keeper" and the entire change of culture thing that would need to happen.

Indeed. In ancient times, Merrill claimed all elves had the Gift, and based on how powerful Arlathan era magic is, I'm betting it's not much of an exaggeration.
