I'm assume everyone knows what I'm talking about when I say "rumored species."

For the "arrogant" race I'll call them the Cephalia. As for the "guardians," I'll name them the Xandria.

I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about.

Wow. I thought this kind of info would run like wildfire here. Just google Mass Effect 4 new aliens and you should find it. I don't think it needs to be said, but take the info with a grain of salt.

Do you envisage your Cephalia to resemble Cephalopods?

Nah, I just took the name from marginocephalia. I can't envision very well, so I just picture an Independence Day alien look-a-like in Mass Effect.

so I saw this thread, went and looked it up on google.....

I have to say that if this is true, I am genuinely disappointed. I was hoping for the next game to develop the species that we had already seen. I feel like adding new species will detract from the lore development we could have had on existing species. I mean how many are there? eleven counting humans? and we need more?!

In my opinion I really hope this isn't true

It's a big galaxy. And exploring new stuff is fun. Were you not interested in learning about the Yahg? Or the Collectors? Or the Rachni? I feel for part of the mass effect story telling it is essential to have the unknown and have no problem at all in introducing two new species especially when you consider things like the Reapers, Collectors and maybe even the Geth are unlikely to be enemies in the next game.

Went and read the post referring to the new species. Interesting, I'm all for new species, but of course not at the expense of already established species, like for instance the Quarians and Krogan being the least favored in that "test group"... So I welcome new additions.

Given that the only source for this is post by some random user on some random IT forum, I think we should take these rumors with a massive dose of salt. There have been many times previously where random posters claimed insider knowledge on an upcoming game and then their predictions never came to pass. It is a form of trolling probably as old as the internet.

I wouldn't be shocked if new species were introduced in the next game (particular if its an AU setting), but I wouldn't put too much faith into a random post by some random guy on the internet.

Is the speculation interesting? Of course it is. But don't get too invested in it just yet. Its just as likely to be a load of bullsh_t.

I echo the sentiment to take with salt in large quantities.

That said, there's more lending it credibility than not. It is telling the original post was deleted without explanation, rather than Bioware or EA issuing a standard no-comments-on-speculation response. There's not enough to overcome any amount of skepticism, but skepticism is really the only thing saying this might not be real.

More to the point, I do like most of what he says they talked about. Shepard kind of got caught up in themself, and I missed the exploration--real, honest, semi-free-roam exploration--from 1 when it got cut in 2 and 3. If they bring that back, I will be incredibly happy, and there's a lot there to suggest that will be both back, and a focus.

The new races sound, at the very least, interesting, though I echo the concern that the new might take away from the old. However, I'm guessing they weren't in the line-up when asking which two to cut for playable races, so I'm not concerned about that--more about the galaxy getting a bit too diverse for the game to give any race the love it deserves. Other than that, though, I am cautiously intrigued.

I am disappointed if his claim about quarians and krogan being top picks for non-playable races are true, though I am skeptical that's accurate if he wasn't keeping a running tally. Given a list of ME's top races (Human, Asari, Salarian, Turian, Batarian, Quarian, Krogan), I would expect Salarians to be at or near the top of that list. While somewhat iconic, they never really had devoted fanbases like the Krogan and, to a lesser extent, the quarians. Quarians as a pick I could understand, though it would sadden me--I found them extremely interesting. I'm also skeptical Quarians would be picked before Batarians.

That all said, he said he was disappointed how many picked them, not necessarily that they were majority picks.

I would also be glad to see if his talk of their emphasis on customization pans out. I liked that ME3 continued to swing towards ME1 in that aspect, and I generally hope it continues in that direction without going quite all the way back.

Haven't seen anything genuine so far, but if they decide to incorporate new species I'm also gonna be very dissapointed, given the lack of knowledge and involvment we've had with the already existing species.

Out of interest, who do you want to be fighting? Just mercs, pirates etc? Sounds boring imo.

OP, it's a hoax. There are no new alien species.

In fact, there is no new ME game in the strictest sense of "new". The next Mass Effect is just ME3 upgraded to Frostbite 2. DLC sold separately.

Hence why I say "rumored."  No point in speculation over something that may not be true.

Still, if the description is genuine, the two new races sound interesting. Especially the "guardian" ones when he says they resemble Reapers.
