My first MP game was Borderlands 2. That game was fun, but it was way too easy (easy as bronze). After modding the hell out of that game, eventually I got bored, I gave myself all the top tier equipment, everything modded to perfection. After you reach a certain stage, there is zero challenge in that game.

Mass Effect is better because, at its toughest, I still find it very challenging. I'm not talking about Gold, that's boring and easy. I can't mod the game to make myself invincible like I did on Borderlands 2.

I don't even know what to think of this.
You find a game boring because you made yourself invincible?
I wonder why its so boring then.

OT: First MP game was BF 1942......
Stuck with BF for a while and got sick and tired of BF3, so thats when I started ME3.

I recall messing around with an off-brand dial-up modem's initialization string was a PITA.  And then there are those connection interruptions when someone would pick up the phone, an incoming call with call-waiting, line noise/static because there's a thunderstorm, etc. <_<

Those were the good times. Having to write your own Config.sys and Autoexec files to get optimal game play (or any kind of play for that matter). People getting mad because they got the fax sound when they called your home. Having to cough up extra dough just to have a dedicated phone line.

It made you really appreciate the games back then.

It wasn't boring because of cheats, it became boring (after quite a few months) because I was very easily able to master the game, like I said there is zero challenge in that game. It's aimed at younger, more casual audiences. It's a story driven game, it has plenty of features which make it fun. But the difficulty level is extremely low, it's not a challenging game. Once you obtain certain weapons and equipment, you can solo the raid bosses in a matter of seconds. Probably the second easiest video game I've ever played after GTA. I did modify my stats to make myself invincible but that was just something I wanted to try out on one occassion, I mostly played legit (although instead of farming for hundreds of hours to find items like most players, I simply created them using modding software, I don't see any harm in doing that, all I did was save myself hundreds of hours that I would have spent repeatedly farming the same bosses over and over again).

A huge part of the reason why I've carried on playing Mass Effect for so long is because sometimes I still find it very challenging to the point of becoming impossible at times. I could never solo thunderdome with a vorcha hunter for example.

Anybody remember the original Neverwinter Nights on AOL? Was an old school SSI/TSR game with terrible graphics. That was my first online multiplayer experience, around 1995. That led me into Warcraft 2, Starcraft and Diablo. On console, my first online experience was Halo 3. I played the other Halo's but only local, not online.

I think my first MP game was Starcraft. Then a couple of games using a serial connection to hook up with a friend. Then TF, various assorted shooters, most notably TF2 and Warband but ME3 beat all of them in time played.

Didn't get internet until late in the 90's, so despite my age, I missed out on a lot of the early multiplayer experiences. I only played PC online. First console I hooked up to the internet was my Wii, which was quickly replaced by the Xbox.

I remember playing Delta Force, Quake 2, Unreal Tournament, Serious Sam, Warcraft 2, Counterstrike and Quake 3, but the games I played the most were Kingpin: Life of Crime (Quake 2 engine) and Battlefield 1942.

On console I dabbled a bit in Gears of War, Halo, Portal and Guitar Hero. Mass Effect 3 has definitely been my longest running multiplayer experience.

Street Fighter 2 on the SNES I remember taking my controller to a friends house just so we could play together :D. My first true multiplayer experience was Halo 2

Yep, was my first as well. I had previously played some co-op games (Fable 2 & 3) but nothing truly multiplayer. I remember being very hesitant to branch away from the single player campaign. I had never been interested in MP games, mainly because of my shyness. Now I have Borderlands 2 and Dead Island. Came to realize multiplayer can be a lot of fun, especially when played with friends.

My first was Double Dragon. As far as online though, Halo. I dabbled in a few other but didn't play them for long. Especially Madden, everybody I played against used the Vikings when they had Randy Moss. So all day it was a long bomb and they would always score. ME3 was the only game I got to play online constantly over a long period of time.

Street fighter II arcade machines were my first multiplayer experience, followed by split screen goldeneye 64 a few years later, and the occasional PC lan party, playing starcraft, doom, quake and quake 2.

I didn't get an internet connection until 2 years ago though, so I didn't play any internet based multiplayer until recently.

My first over the internet multiplayer, as opposed to lan party's and split screen console games was gears of war 2, mostly in horde mode, then GoW3 when it came out.

When the gears franchise bombed with judgment, I jumped ship to ME3MP, which was similar yet different, and I've been headbutting things here ever since.

I still miss the chainsaws though...

Judgment was an insult. The worst part is I totally called it being ****, then I let the demo sucker me into getting it. Then when I got it it was totally ****.

My 1st was a game called midi maze on the old atari st, you had to hook up your computers via midi cables, very rudimentary but was a lot of fun the few times we could get 5 or 6 people together. The 2nd one would be neverwinter nights (the bioware version) Many hours of fun with that,

ME3 is my 1st real shooter style mp. I have Halo reach on my xbox was included when I bought it and have thought about giving that a try as my neices husband apparently plays that alot. Not sure I want to go through a learning curve in a pvp game though,

When my boyfriend and I first started going out we played a little bit of co-op Ghost Recon together. I seem to recall doing a bit of Icewind Dale 2 MP and some of the persistent world mods for NWN 1. But I really didn't get into playing MP for myself (instead of just watching it) until this game. I always meant to do Civ and Starcraft MP but kind of never got around to it, somehow.

First MP experience was the original Halo on PC. Shooting dudes in the face using a pistol was a surprisingly easy way to enrage people. I was actually really annoyed when it turned out that pistol sniping was way harder with a controller.

ME3's MP was the first MP experience that I sunk an absurd amount of time into, though.
