When it was announced i figured I would probably not bother with it, I was always more interested by the story of Mass Effect. But I was a victim of the bug when the game came out that meant Shepard's originally created in ME1 wouldn't import properly into ME3. I figured i would play multiplayer til they fixed it. That took 2 weeks. Now nearly 2 years later here I am still playing most days.
Yes there are bugs and things I would love to change, but i've never played any other game for so long. One more reason I am starting to look forward to MEwhatevertheyaregoingtocallthenextgame.

For me it was the legendary weapons that had me coming back. When I finally got them all several times, it was making the characters specifically for them weapons.MaxCrushmore wrote...

Diablo 2 was mine too, I lived on that for like 3 years.MaxCrushmore wrote...
My first was Diablo 2 i think .. i pumped a lot of hours into that sucker
Or maybe it was Mechwarrior 2? Both around the same time in the early 90's
Yeah, there's only so many Hell cow runs and PvP matches I could do before burning out .. but I played almost full time for 3 years also
Funny thing for me is .. I found at least one of every item in the game, except the SoJ, of which I had dozens (or more) at any time.
Kinda odd, the one item in the first half of the games life cycle used as currency and I never found one.
@TopTrog - I remember having much fun with M.U.L.E. .. I would have been around 9 or 10 at the time. I vaguely remember the plot draft system at the start ... had to be quick to get the high crystite plots ..
@Cyonan - Guess I got my timeline wrong on the Diablo games ... too much booze obviously. And I still occasionally play Warcraft 2 (or Nobunga's Ambition or Civ II) on my (ancient) laptop when I'm travelling

Mass Effect Trilogy was the first game I bought for the console and never played a MP anything. Once I got to the 3rd installment of the game, it took me forever to brave the MP as I didn't want to be this "old guy" being carried by some young person, but I got my XBLive-gold 3 months ago and haven't been out of ME3-MP more than a day since.
HA! What I have figured out since then is that we're all carried til we find our footing in MP, having a mic is helpful in MP co-op though not many people use them and as long as you PTFO your squad is willing to revive you when you get whacked. Overall, I find this game completely **AWESOME** and I still play almost daily, still having a blast and looking to up my game with silver and gold challenges as soon as I up my abilities a bit more. Waiting impatiently for ME4!

I've been a hardcore Mass Effect fan since the release of the first game. As soon as I set foot on the Citadel for the first time I was hooked. Played the entire series multiple times through then moved onto multiplayer where I met lots of great people who I still run with today. Mass Effect is the only game I have played for this long. It's kind of wild to think that after the fourth game is released and we move onto it, I will have played this series for almost 10 years! That alone says something in and of itself.
Another unusual thing about this series is that most N7s will approach me if they see I'm wearing N7 gear and ask what platform I'm on or what's my GT. I can't count the number of local players I have met while running around town simply because they caught a glimpse of my N7 wrist band. Neat to hear, "I've run into you before!", or "Those were some great games! We will have to run some more!" from people I bump into at the mall, or bar, or where-ever. I guess one of the reasons I have stuck with this series for so long is because of the community, not just the game play.
I just hope the new game can hold a candle to this one, and with any luck, improve upon it.
See you guys in the firebase.

One day I decided to give in to the constant prompts. I realised that my favourite games were more fun with human interaction. LittleBigPlanet, BioShock and ME3 quickly became favourites.

Don't worry - you are NOT the oldest person around here. Not by a long shot.SilverOtter wrote...
I was a gamer back in the late 80's on the original Nintendo then got busy with life and didn't touch another console for over 20 years - yes, that makes me in my late 40's.

Does Dark Souls count? You could enter other peoples games to help or fight. I usually only played RPG stuff, but once I got into ME3 multiplayer that's all I've played since.
I would count it since it has PvP.

I had never played a multiplayer game before in my life before ME3 came out . . .
Same here, dumdum2. I'd played lots of shooters before ME3, but always just the single player campaigns. I never had any desire to check out Xbox Live Gold until ME3 came along. Eventually it became clear that I'd never be able to fully unlock what Bioware was then calling the "perfect" ending to the single player campaign without upping my Galaxy at War readiness number. That meant trying multiplayer.
Motivated by nothing more than a desire to see that dumb little 5-second cut scene on my TV (even though I already seen it on YouTube), I activated the two-day Xbox Gold Live free trial I got with ME3. Slapped a Mantis 1 on a level 1 human female infiltrator and joined a Bronze match on Dagger against Cerberus. I was the n00biest n00b of the team, but we were all pretty inept. I went down multiple times, revived teamates multiple times, popped a few Cerberus melons and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Bought myself a regular Gold membership and I've been playing ME3 multiplayer ever since.
I doubt that anyone at Bioware is currently monitoring this forum for anything other than bare-bones copyright compliance or outright commercial spam, but just in case ...
I want you folks at Bioware to know that I've been videogaming ever since Pong hit the arcades, and I have never, ever gotten anywhere near the enjoyment out of any game that I've gotten from ME3 (single player and multiplayer alike). A thousand thank-yous to everyone on Bioware's ME team for creating and supporting this masterpiece.
