Critics have an unfortunate tendency to praise just about anything so long as it's subversive.
Avatar is extremely subversive and yet critics heavily criticized the lacking story and gave it less positive reviews(7/10 on average). Also, I don't see how your opinion is worth more than that of a professional film critic, what exactly do you know about movies?

Avatar is just Dances with Wolves in a sci-fi setting and without Kevin Costner.
It's literally Pocahantas in space.
Exactly, which is why it, aside from its excellent visual effects, sucks. It's eye candy but nothing more.

Compared to even the earlier Mass Effect games, it is. Auto-dialogue being amont the smaller things.David7204 wrote...
Mass Effect 3 wasn't subversive, aside from the ending.

I'd recommend it purely for the visuals. The story is nothing to shout about but I'd take a well made and convincingly acted sci-fi spin on a cliched story over most of the dross Hollywood spews any day of the week.Cthulhu42 wrote...
I have never seen Avatar.

In an interview on the View James Cameron said that his movie was aimed to be extremely subversive actually.

In that sense I guess Avatar was subversive but not in a literary regard.

When it comes to fiction, that entails predicting what the audience is going to expect based on the preceding content, then going against the grain in order to challenge them.

Congratulations on joining the group of people who looked up irony on Google, while completely ignoring that there are actually several types of irony, from sarcasam to your hypocriticalness. Here is your theme song.David7204 wrote...
