Elven archer rogue who is very 'pro-elf', but not to the point of being completely unreasonable or one-sided. Ideally gather as many elven agents as possible, preferably from the Alienages and other areas they have it the hardest, and if possible, secure an alliance between them and the Dalish to help build bridges between the two groups. Fully opposed to anyone who abuses their power in the mage vs templar conflict (red templars, blood mages), happy to stay neutral or even find a way for both sides to find a truce to their conflict. Will romance the male elf LI whoever that may be (there's one every DA game thus far...).

Will fashion my strongholds as espionage and mercantile centers, as trade and information/spying will be key. Diplomacy/coercion will be used as much as possible.

As an organization fighting to preserve the status quo: Mages in Circles with more Templar oversight, Dalish Elves remaining as nomads or being mercilessly slaughtered, City Elves living under the heel of their superiors, ect.

However I will assist the Dwarfs in reclaiming their lost Empire (if that's an option).

First playthrough- good guy. Doing several but not all sidequests.
Later playthoughs- trying other races, classes, romances and choices, exploring more sidequests.
After that perfect playthough making the best choices with my favorite character. Then an evil character. And then a couple of playthroughs with mods.

That's why I liked Merrill more than Anders. 

Indeed. Merrill is my second favorite blood mage, after Avernus. Avernus wasn't quite as careful, but he was like a mage-scientist, which is awesome.
