Well he's either mixed or he makes tanning appointments on the Citadel between missions.

Lol, his model is 100% Dutch, so he totally spray tans in between missions. He's a huge fan of vintage reality shows like Jersey Shore.

It seriously boggles my mind that they made him so dark.

lol! I'm actually glad they made him dark even though the model is Dutch. I love the idea of him being mixed so it helps with my headcanon.

What could he possibly be mixed with though? I guess you could canon that he's Italian, or at least half. Other than that I don't see how he could be any other enthicity that would make him dark.

My Shepard is a proud white man.

Didn't really put a lot of thought into it. My main Shepard had some features that somewhat resembled myown.

I did experiment with a few different looks. It was easiest to associate with my main Shepard.

I'm male and I prefer playing male protagonists, I can play female ones aswell but I'm somewhat bisased towards male protagonists since it's easier to associate with a character that's more like myself, least for me it is.

It's not a major deal however.

As I mentioned before, my Shepard is usually default. When I do go for custom, he's usually American from a state either in the south, midwest, or the northern plains states. Basically either Scotch-Irish, German, or Scandinavian descent, or some mixture thereof.

The generic male Shepard looks like a lot of the Middle Eastern men I know, despite the accent. I always appreciated his universal look. If I had to guess based on appearance, he seems straight up Lebanese. Haha I didn't realise people considered him "dark!" Oh, I must seem like a hockey puck.

I did notice that, and I was pleasantly surprised. That just proves he's from the ME! The desert sun eventually takes its toll and we brown with age.

I was going to say the same thing. I live in an area with a lot of Middle Eastern people and I went to school with quite a few who look similar to Sheploo, which is why I like the idea of him being mixed with that group better.

Aside from his skin color, which isn't even that dark, he looks nothing like a single middle eastern person I know. And I know a lot of them. And even then, middle eastern people are more white than anything.

He's Canadian. Canadian accents are very interchangeable with American accents. It's why there really isn't such thing as a Canadian accent (or indeed an American accent). It's regional for the most part. It's the same as a Midwestern/General American accent, which is very similar to a West Coast accent. It's why Shepard being from Los Angeles, or California in general, is plausible.

Also, the U.S, Canada, and Mexico have all united into a single sovereign state at that point anyway.

My canon Shepard is from Mindoir. He's white, with black hair, brown eyes, and a roman nose (like me). Basically his race is my race, white from Italian, English and Scandanavian. His parents immigrated to Mindoir from Seattle.

Do you have a problem with me stating that my Sheploo is mixed? Cause this is totally the impression I am getting out of you.  That's fine for you that you don't know any Middle Eastern men who resemble Sheploo but I have seen a few and besides if he's mixed then I wouldn't expect him to look 100% middle eastern anyway.

Overall, I'm not understanding why this is such a big deal to you. I may use Sheploo but he's still my Shepard.  Imagine whatever makes you happy.

Hm, perhaps the people you know are only from a particular area. We tend to have more colour diversity than other regions, but white is definitely not the norm. I get ogled and called a halfblood often for having fair skin. In regards to his facial features, I've seen real-life Shepards across Lebanon/Turkey/Cyprus. Definitely not so much in the Gulf.

If you include, say, Turks with 'middle-eastern', then no, it's not as rare as you'd think, especially around the Aegean.

The term itself is somewhat vague anyhow, as there's been a good number of different ethnicites in that region. Semitic - not a term exclusive to Jews, remember! -, Arab, Turkic etc. would be more precise.
