Planning for an endgame without the Marsh Witch

I guess this leaves two options.
Option one: training Leliana or Zevran as stealthy mage assassins and relying on a templar for dispel (Alistair or Secret Companion or warrior Warden). Templars can't dispel themselves but that's not a big problem in this scenario, since it is the assassin(s) who are most likely to get hit with Misdirection Hex and Curse of Mortality. The problem with this is that rogues are strapped for feats anyway; hence you either have to focus Leliana on stealthy assassination right from the start or you have to keep the slimy bastard Zevran around.
Option two: Wynne. Giving her the Mana Clash line of spells should eliminate the need for dispel, by and large, and it is the most elegant method since Mana Clash does not require line of sight. Alternatively, Glyph of Neutralisation can take the sting out of one enemy mage, Force Field can put some threat on the back burner for a time, and Dispel Magic can take care of eventual mishaps. The cost of training Wynne in this way is just five spell points, assuming that you give her the first three glyphs in any case. At the cost of having her learn one further spell (Anti-Magic Ward) you can have a warrior rush an enemy mage with impunity and start whaling on him for long enough to get him securely stun-locked.
I'm leaning towards specialising Wynne, since it imposes the least requirements on the party in terms of composition and training. Do you think this is workable?
Of course, there are other options like going for extreme spell immunity and/or stocking up on lightning bombs. But I'd like to keep those in reserve.
My reason for asking is that I'm pondering a new campaign (rogue or warrior); I want to review all the major options up front so that things can flow naturally and everything falls neatly into place when the time comes.
Speaking of marsh witches: I was rather peeved when the other one didn't drop anything except for her notebook. I had hoped for another scale, and I had envisioned two tanks in Wade's superior plate, hopping around in a raging inferno and giving Archi what-for. Alas, it wasn't to be.

It does make sense as Flemeth is not really a dragon.DarthGizka wrote...

Anyway, the battle was almost as hard as that against 'Andraste', yet there was no reward whatsoever (unless you want the count the new kit for Morrigan). Same shafting as the XP-less spirits that you have to defeat for destroying the spirit apparatus en route to the Anvil (for which you don't get XP either). Elsewhere the same spirits yield XP normally. Doesn't make sense; it is simply shoddy game design.

Which is why I usually don't bother to fight her, you can get the book for Morrigan just by talking to Flemeth.DarthGizka wrote...

She died while in dragon form. If necessary I'd have carved some scales off her while she was still breathing fire...

Flemeth gives you a bucketload of xp, new robes for morrigan and completion of her quest.
The spirit apparatus gives you 500xp at the end of the fight.

Loaded the closest save that I could find (beginning of the area) and hacked my way through to the apparatus. At the entrance to the apparatus room I made a save just in case and then I started dancing with the spirits.
The first time through I just couldn't help myself and had to fool around, so I played it a second time, restricting myself to doing just the strictly necessary work (exactly eight spirits slain, each face hammered exactly twice). That was to exclude the possibility that the lack of XP had been a punishment for doing suboptimal work. Then I played it a third time just to be sure, this time always hammering the side facing the entrance (and thus effectively hammering each face in turn and then the same again, instead of hammering each face twice). No XP. Niente. Nada. Nitshevo.
The kill count is unchanged as well but the damage meter goes up.
As regards Flemeth: define 'bucketload of XP'. My newly-minted elven mage was a real ass about wanting a reward for the Wilds Flower (Kennel Master, Ostagar) which netted her 50 silver and 500 XP. That's a bucketload. The stuff for Morrigan is of no use unless she is part of your squad (as opposed to guarding her tent at camp all the time). I suppose that you could sell the stuff for a few silver. Be that as it may, the RPG tradition is that slaying a proper dragon is bloody hard but you get bloody good loot for it. 'Andraste' fits the bill perfectly, the dragon witch doesn't.
P.S.: hammering a face gives a white 500 damage floaty. Nothing to do with XP though.
P.P.S.: found a suitable save and did a few bouts of dragon riding in the Korcari Wilds. If you do it the easy way then you get the stuff for Morrigan and 250 XP for quest completion. If you do it the hard way then you get the dragon XP extra (240 for my level-15 Warden) and another helping of quest completion XP. That's 490 XP extra which is indeed a nice bucket. During an earlier playthrough I thought you get the second 250 XP in the easy scenario as well (upon returning to the hut after delivering the grimoire) but that was probably just the earlier 'Quest completed.' popup sticking around for too long.

Same here.I understand some players hate Flemeth, either because they don't like Godlike beings in principal, they want the experience, or just like to kill, but it's not necessary and not warranted imo.<_<

As regards her slaying being warranted - we don't really know anything for sure. There are rumours, there are Morrigan's claims (unsubstantiated but sort of plausible), but nothing reliable.
Hence a paladin-type character would lack justification for killing her, but a Revan-type character would only care about the fact that slaying her definitely contributes to an increase in power, even if only in a very small way (a Darth Duncan would probably let her live, though, given that she is a force to be reckoned with who seems to have her own reasons to help the Grey Wardens overcome the current Blight).
Be that as it may, does nobody have any input on the anti-mage thing? My next character is going to be type Revan or Darth Duncan, and may well be a non-mage class. A tank(ish) warrior feels perfect for that, being able to take on whole armies without needing any support except when there are mages in the picture. I've yet to play an arcane warrior, but they sound a bit meh. The Burning Man form would be ideal. Are there mods that let you keep the Fade forms for the rest of the game?
