Possibly indicating a romantic relationship with Rasa and Thane? If so, will this make Thane into a liar (from the romanced perspective) since he said he had been dead for 10 years (awoken by femshep) and that he had " never had affection for another species" was uncertain how to approach a human woman? Will he go from being a Leon the professional style assassin to James Bond? I haven't read the other comics only the BSN reviews, but I fear Thane will take a back seat to cerberus and his character retconned.

Better yet let's hope we can learn just a little bit more about Thane and the Drell in general and that he is not completely overshadowed. But I doubt it, I hope but doubt it.

Well, consistency has never been a strong point of the expanded universe.

I'd wager on the comic cover being misleading. That said, consistency is not the EU's strong suit. I don't support Thane/Rasa because I don't think Walters is a good or insightful writer and don't trust him to do it well. I'd have no problems with it in the hands of even someone like John Jackson Miller. But Walters? Nope.

I don't know. Walters wrote one Drell already (Feron). He was actually cooler in the comic than the game.

That said, I read that Walters consulted with the other writers on some of these characters. Thane is one where he has no one to consult with anymore. So who knows..

Let's not turn this into a GENDER-bashing thread. Some of the posters are in fact MEN.

@jtav

If Thane screwed around more i'd be happier. The whole my wife is sooo perfect I only need her memory for ten years felt difficult for some femsheps to overcome. If he screwed around with humans even better. I suspected he liked humans anyway (reading human literature and his relationship with mouse). As long as affection was not involved that is, then character consistency is an issue ( Thane turns into a liar and the panties assassin).

However, this also changes the way I viewed Thane who was just using pure combat prowess to reach his target. If he manipulates (uses sex) and deceives to reach targets that is a whole other situation. I wouldn't like him as much and keep my femshep far away.

But you are correct this is all supposition. I am a little worried given the intent of that image. *Actually, after reexamining that image, it looks like he is holding a butter knife; maybe they are just posing for an I Can't Believe it's not Butter commercial.

@RandomGuy96

I was going for an emphasize THANE vibe but my real issue is I forgot to use a question mark and may have used too many syllables.

Note: I apologize if my post offends anyone. If the romance forums were up i'd have posted this there.

The more 'Written by Mac Walters' stuff I read the more I feel it's reaffirmed that he writes all his characters in the same friggin way. Cool and edgy, slang everywhere, bad-assness to left and right.

I shouldn't care anymore, I really, really shouldn't but I think I'm gonna read this one too just to get pissed off as usual because for some reason I keep hoping I might've misjudged Mac as a writer in the end.

I didn't want to mention this either. Afraid the thread will degenerate into race-bashing, but I think the community is decent enough to handle this topic. When I first saw Rasa/Maya in game I was like "yay" they put a darker-skinned Indian women in the game (being part of my ancestry I was really happy to see this). Now she's been bleached ( and I do not like)!

It's possible that both are just putting on an act to make the other drop their guard, and aren't involved in any kind of real romantic activity. As someone who's bought all of the (physical) comics, I've realized that the cover art isn't always a good indication of what happens inside the comic. A few of the covers show scenes that didn't appear in the story.

Rasa's skin tone, as well as her hair and eye color, changes depending on her disguise. Her natural appearance still has what I call the "medium dark" skin tone in Mass Effect's character creator.
