Make it like Dragon's Dogma where the romance option is a surprise.

Arguably the biggest gaming wtf moment I've experienced. I sat there for a minute saying 'what?!' over and over again.

Who did you end up with.  I got Madeline...

I got Julien. Gave him a bunch of pies and that did the trick I guess. I'm glad it didn't end up being the shop owner guy, can't remember his name.

yes. The romances were never the focus, for me. That's assuming I'd buy it WITH the romances, though.

Would personally feel like it'd been an improvement and actually get me a bit more interested in the game.

:lol::lol::lol:

... it'd be worth it, just for the thermonuclear fallout on BSN.

Absolutely! That way there is nothing to get in the way of the hours upon hours of mindless killing, plundering and debauchery!

Lol! And the best part is that half the people of the opposite gender say that when you're randomly travelling. I was playing extensively a few days ago, going to different cities, and several women were saying that.

Get in line, ladies.

There's also interacting with your companions and other characters, learning more about Thedas/lore, and role-playing

Why would I buy a game that doesn't have a harem of waifus in it? If I can't make my female companions fall for me within five conversations or less, then this game is impeding on my Role-playing.

Ah, but romance is a subset of the interacting with companions category. People who enjoy that, in theory, don't want romances removed.

Sure. Gives me more of an incentive to ship companions with one another instead. Cassandra/Vivienne, Varric/Iron Bull, etc.

*snip*

I'd prefer to look at this way. The romances not being there could open up for opportunities to further develop the characters without the restraint of being tied down by wacky sex scenes. Kotor 2 didn't need it to develop its characters and neither did the older BioWare titles. Nowadays they feel less like intriguing side content and more like obligations if you want to 'fix' the characters and their problems. If you don't romance certain characters, then they do not really develop or learn from their supposed mistakes. But that's the way I look at it. Take that for what you will.

Sure, but that wouldn't stop my Inquisitor from pursuing Cassandra.
There are dozens of things to do. Honestly, my favorite part is the mindless killing and debauchery.

I understand that, but that shouldn't stop you from caring about those companions and their character development

"Romances" are low brow fan service, don't kid yourself.

Good thing it's optional then. ^_^

Unlike certain things, like DA2's ridiculous combat speed (style over substance) and the "accessible" dialogue wheel.

Rather than removing romances, I would love for them to be DLC. Romance haters don't get romance and romance lovers can customise their romance experience. Everybody wins!

As long as there's still the ability to interact and form different kinds of bonds with companions, I really wouldn't care overly much.

So basically, romance doesn't have to be in but bromance sure as hell does.

Yes, but I couldn't imagine why they would possibly want to do that given the popularity of the romances.
