Didn't want to create a new thread for this, but does the high velocity barrel work with the geth pulse rifle? I tested it, and it doesn't seem to work. Shots don't penetrate walls.

What level is your HVB at?That may make the difference.

Glacier is a good map to test it on. You can try firing through the glass from the central upper room down into the LZ, and it's pretty easy to tell if it penetrates.

Were you using polonium rounds in that geth match? It seemed like that.

A slight tangent on this:

Each shot fired through a wall makes for more calculations that have to be performed, so using rapid fire weapons for wallhax regularly can create problems if the lobby isn't up to it.

I tried wallhacking a GSMG on the Quarksman with Drill ammo III once, and it caused severe framerate issues at times. :pinched:

Of course, that's on Loleggsbawks, not PC, so it might be less of an issue for you.

Yes, good eye! I was going with a damage over time theme - polonium, warp, and reave. Now that I think about it, I wonder if polonium glitches with dot powers the same way incendiary does? Sorry to split like that afterwards, I had to run to the store, and I was just testing some coalesced mods really quick beforehand. Figures that the one time I can't stick around, I get a BSNer stopping in for a game.

I hear that. When I run piercing on Hazard Glacier and rapid fire through that big window, my laptop potato loses about half its frames.

No worries.

@n7 it's level 1 that could be the issue. But it works really with the typhoon. Maybe the walls are just too thick on giant I tested it on the typhoon in goddess instead of giant.

I think I remember Annomander saying that it does stack with fire DoTs (including warp), and even more effectively.

That was the reason it wasn't released to the public I think, if bioware had ever fixed the incendiary glitch, they'd probably have unlocked polonium ammo in the store afterwards.

I'll test that out tonight. Honestly, by themselves, they're good but not amazing.

The Typhoon has 25cm of innate piercing, that might also explain some of the difference in performance you saw with the high velocity barrel.

Huh. I didn't know that. I'll have to compare them on glacier (through the glass as crachsuit suggested) to compare them. I'll have to check it out tomorrow. '

Thanks!

There are two things and two communities at work here.

The casual gamer community would love for the game to just tell you all the mechanics like if a weapon mod has no effect.

However, the hardcore community (much of BSN) just loves working all this out, and then sounding like an expert (and arguing about it!  :D )

Me? I'm in the middle.  I know just enough to do ok, and not enough to know what I'm talking about!  ;)

The more you level up the HVB,the more you'll notice the penetration effects on the GPR.Level 1 equipment never really shines too bright.
