I've always stood by Ashley, but I'm getting really annoyed at her whining about Cerberus, in a second playthrough that I cannot get far in for various gameplay and storyline reasons.
Ashley sucks in ME3

I'm perfectly fine with her whining about Cerberus, just like I was fine with the meeting on Horizon. Ash has been able to articulate exactly what I feel about Cerberus but which I have been unable to express because of the being railroaded into joining them. She is my voice so to speak, presenting a viewpoint I have been unable to present, especially on Horizon. I so badly wanted to abandon Cerberus at that very moment and return to the alliance with her, but nope, we get railroaded so badly in that conversation.

I can't ever imagine ME1 Ashley doing this:
Everyone get's fricken drunk, even Tali of all people, you think it would kill her.

That's right, I remember now - meeting her sister at the memorial (did anyone else find it odd that she has a pale white-skinned, blue-eyed, red-haired sister?). Still, it'd have been nice to have a conversation on the Normandy besides the drunk scene, and perhaps some interaction with the other squadmates - as in conversations.Lets get facts straight here......she has as much content after the coup as Kaiden....four conversations. It is just that hers is on the Citadel more than the Normandy. And she has content on missions as well, such as Turian Platoon and Bomb. Bring her to Eden prime as well for a change.
And really she is the best person to bring to Horizon, because she is the most impacted emotionally by what's going on in sanctuary.
I'm not necessarily looking for the most emotional reactions in missions. If given a choice, I wouldn't have brought the clearly-compromised Liara to Thessia.

I still have no idea just what on earth that was about with her sister looking nothing like her, they're supposed to be Latino. Someone messed up.

Pretty sure she's there for the entire game from the Coup onward, Ashley or no Ashley. Best guess, they just put the NPC on the map as a prop and decided later to add the Ashley scene there with existing resources.I still have no idea just what on earth that was about with her sister looking nothing like her.

I think it would've been cooler if, instead of adding James to the crew, we could've spent that time rekindling friendship/relationship with the VS. I would have liked to see how they (or Tali'Zorah) would have interacted with Wrex in this game.

Actually, a different person wrote Ash in ME3 than in ME1, and that's a big part of why her personality shifted so much.
No, she isn't, outside her character development and outside the circumstances.
She drops the fear of other races for a great reason, she develops out of this due to her bond with her crewmates and other alien allies. You can see this development in ME1 if you send her with Kirrahe. Nevermind she considers Tali a "sister" in ME3.
So she develops out of her xenophobia....that's character development.
And ME3 continues her arc with her sister from ME1, that storyline is concluded.

She has dialogue with Tali on the Normandy after the Bomb mission and she moves out of her room after Platoon or the Rachni mission I believe.

Ashley Williams is the typical reflection of human nature. If you don't know something at first, you kinda fear it or you are sceptical and discreet. That's why I liked her very much, when I played Mass Effect. I wanted to see how her character develops in the upcoming Mass Effect games, of course that was a joke. I mean, in Mass Effect 2, you meet her on horizon and as love interest you get a message by her. Nothing else! And in Mass Effect 3...well...I don't know what to think about her. She doesn't appear like a soldier and tough woman, more like teenager and she can't make a clear decision. I just wish there was much much much more content of her, especially having her as love interest. The message you got in Mass Effect 2 has no relevance in Mass Effect 3. What the hell?! And why does she look that plastic-surgery like? I don't dislike her in general, but once she appeared in Mass Effect 3, I was incredibly confused.

After the bomb mission you see her standing in front of the memorial wall thinking of Kaidan. That is the only time you see her outside of the room she's in.
The only other time you see her is when she tells Joker to retreat once the Crucible is activated.

As far as I know all ME1 squadmates had different writers in ME3.

there is a good reason that I didn't romance her. I am pro human and all. Ashley's religious nature doesn't bother me. She is a bit too much for me to romance. There is a differences in being passionate and being too passionate.
For a serious romance options, Miranda the Ice Queen or Jack the Broken Bird is more of my thing and yes I did use tvtrope, so sue me.

Unfortunately I'm a lowly console player so mods are no use to me.
But, I agree that it's a shame how the straight talking, assertive Ash from ME1 disappeared. That's the woman Amelia Shepard was proud to call her friend. That's the woman Zack Shepard fell in love with. ME3 Ash seems like a different person. And yeah, war changes people but nobody else seems to have their characters nerfed the way Ash does.
I'll be honest: I've known dozens of women who are straight talking and assertive. Ashley really is not one of them. She comes off as confrontational and needlessly abrasive, and it's the last thing I'd want to see in a Soldier to be honest.

I think you just managed to summon what I dislike so much about her in few short sentences. So... congratulations. That takes some kind of skill.

Yep, not including cutscenes, the only time Ash leaves her room is if you do the Turian Bomb missions after you get her. Funnily enough, not including cutscenes like Ash, the only time Liara leaves her room is if you do the Turian Bomb missions before you finish the Genophage arc. I have always found that hilarious. Everyone else will move regardless, but Ash and Liara leaving their room is dependent on when you do the Turian Bomb missons, otherwise they just stick in their rooms the entire game. Not including cutscenes ofcourse.
