Ashley does not lack screen time in ME3 (compared to other characters), but most of them are wasted horribly. I remember a good amount of her dialogue revolves her youngest sister Sarah and her husband. That topic if I remember correctly shows up in almost 1/3 of all her conversations, and I don't know about you but to me I just don't care. I might care if it's her sister that dies, or if that husband is the same guy who was kind of a jerk to Sarah in ME1. It's like the writer wants to give her some drama and add to her character, but don't want to risk anything and in the end it came out bland and just wasted precious time she don't have too much.

Talking about her family is fine.  She talks about them in ME1 as well.  The thing is, she used to talk about other things too.  Stuff that seemed to make some players uncomfortable.  Such as race and religion and humanity's place in the galaxy.  Sadly, we can't have that kind of talk now.

Now Ash needs "sex appeal"  and be the butt of drunk jokes.

What drunk jokes? Never seen any of this.

Women aren't allowed to have opinions I guess, unless it deals with family.

She strips down to nothing(as in the only person to do this), you jump on her, and she releases blue-asari biotic power all over you while you kiss her neck.

James also makes her some eggs to help with her hangover. Related-ish:

I loved her talk about family in ME1, I don't necessarily mind her talking about family in ME3 either, but the bland writing this time made that family drama not emotionally engaging and I just don't care about her family as I did in ME1.

I don't think Ashley "sucks" in ME3, but they definitely pulled back on her assertiveness. When she discusses the events that led up to the Reapers invasion, such as losing her squad and Shepard returning, you also get the sense that she's changed a bit, too.

Probably a big reason why I still stick with Jack, despite not being in ME3. She's got more opinions and storyline than that, even with just a handful of lines. Same with Traynor. She talks about family a little, but her story is more about being a newbie and coming into her own as a marine. I like especially that she sees some good in Shepard's time with Cerberus.

Liara has strong opinions too, but in ME3, it seems to revolve around her fatalistic attitude. She brings me down a bit. She's pessimistic.

I would hate him a lot more if he did.

He just looks like an Elvis impersonator to me.

Not any more or less than he did in ME1 and ME2.

given that your Shepard romanced her in ME1 I can only imagine how she sucked...

That's not what I meant, but no that didn't happen.

As long as we're having one of those threads, Tali's the cleanest one. She's probably the best LI ever, then.

There is a direct correlation between that and combat potential, didn't you know?

But of course. I'm sure it was her vital contribution on Horizon rather than her botox and silicone "enhancements".  Even those must have surely been done for combat reasons.

It's just another piece of evidence, for me, that the game was rushed. Considering it was the finale, maybe another year, year and a half of time would have given us more of what we wanted (better ending, better journal, more time with our favorite squaddies, etc.) Sheesh look at the Citadel DLC - how could they do that and still leave us with Starbrat? Limited dev time, that's how.

Indeed. Makes for a softer landing in case she trips on the battlefield somewhere.

I'd fight her, tbh. But then again, I'd fight the ME1 Ashely even more.

Citadel is also a good example of why things wouldn't change with further development time.

One of iakus' problems with Ashley is the alcohol content, which Citadel adds more of.

Things are the way they are in regards to the story because they wanted them like this.
