Aliens: Colonial Marines looked just as good as this

No.  It looked like generic action shooter #987469856587605

 (with the Aliens license)

Gearbox has nothing to do with this one and the developers have said it has been in development for about 3 years so I am hoping for a good reception from this game as surivial horrer is a good fit to the franchise

To be fair, Gearbox is still a great company, so I just don't understand what happened.  Either the publishers were pushing top hard or whatever else, but it should of been handled better, especially out of respect for the license.  Also,  Creative Assembly did release Total War Rome 2, regardless if Sega was rushing them on that product or not, it released as a trainwreck as well.

I am also hoping for a good reception as well, since I love these type of games.

Rumours are that Gearbox re-alocated money that was to go into Colonial Marines into Borderlands 2 DLC, then they also outsourced part of the project to another company.

So what are the answers your hoping this game will get to, since it's set to take place between films one & two.

My interests, what was going on with the company. At the beginning of the second film the company has left the derilict untouched. The warning signal seems to have died or been deactivated. A colony had been set up & existed peacfully for years. Ripley's return apparantly does not catch the attention of anyone in the company who would have known about the Alien because the board members are ignorant, she isn't disposed of, & Burke is able to get away with sending the colonists to the derilict without being noticed.
So do the events in the game explain why the people in the company who knew of the alien don't seem to be around in the second film, does Amanda deactivate the warning signal, was the company aware of Burke but allowed him to set himself up while they watched everything externally, or was someone inside the company actively trying to destroy the Alien & all knowledge of it.

Too be honest, I'm hoping it just fits with the atmosphere it's trying to achieve and has good survivor horror inspired gameplay. As to the story, that's not my biggest interest so far.

I'm sceptical. While Alien 1 was great, so much of that was the story based around the unknown, and it was only a couple of hours. I don't want to play a 10 hour game running away from a single alien which you don't even see much of, I just don't think it will be satisfying. I don't like getting killed and re-loading until you learn the correct path which is what this kind of game play lends itself to. I'll keep an eye on it because I loved the movie, but I just don't think it will translate into a good game.

This.

Here's hoping they don't f*ck this one up.

I really don't know enough about it yet. Definitely wont preorder or anything like that, but I'm at least slightly reassured enough by the fact that several gaming journalists of some credibility (Eurogamer and Rock, Paper, Shotgun) have actually played it and greatly enjoyed it, to muster some cautious optimism. The premise is exciting. It seems one hand obvious and on the other, not so much, that most Alien franchise games have been shooters, since the universe should be ideally suited to slower, survival horror gameplay.

Oh, I'm sooo hoping that this time, this one will be good.

But, yeah... I think I'm gonna wait for the Angry Joe review before I even go near this.

No... it's happening again! Why do they insist on crushing my hopes and dreams? It's doomed for failure! A cruel joke upon the poor fools who've been waiting for a decent Alien game or petty much a decent Alien-related something since Aliens.

As a long-time fan of the film series (the first two films are favorites - the rest I could mostly have lived without), I would one day like to play a decent Aliens-related game. I'll see how the reviews are on this one, and I might get it if it seems good.

A:CM was a cluster...of nuts, so I'm rather glad that I didn't buy that disaster (I was warned off by the previews).

Wasn't interested at first, but when i heard that you have no weapons and only 1 Alien is stalking you the whole game it got my attention. I'm one of those people who prefered the original film over the 2nd one.

Here's hoping they don't screw it up, since they finally decided to turn Xenomorph into a monster and terror that was represented in the first film and not just a bug to shoot.

Definitely, but AFTER release, so I can avoid buying it if it's bad, and so my money isn't in their bank account before the game is finished.

I'm stupidly hoping it will be as awesome as it looks, like it's a possibility. I can't believe myself sometimes.

Yeah I think I might, so far the game looks promising and really good. Though I'd definitely want a peak at the final product before buying it.

Some highlights. Game is taking inspiration from the first Dead Space & Resident Evil. They are working to make the Alien AI adaptive, if you avoid it long enough it's strategy will change. The game is already playable from start to finish, & for ten months they'll be play testing it & fixing bugs.

Looks can be deceiving, remember how good the A:CM trailers and demos were at E3?

Not to mention this is being developed by Creative Assembly, the same developer who royally screwed up Rome II plus they have almost no XP in creating first person SH games.

It definitely looks promising. I fear that Isolation might turn out underwhelming since horror genre is not Creative Assembly's forte. That's how it was when thechineseroom, who were only good at making interactive stories, messed up Machine for Pigs. Plus, the Colonial Marines disaster already has done enough damage to the franchise, especially since it's canon.

I'm looking forward to it, but won't buy when it comes out until I see reviews, namely TotalBiscuit's, AngryJoe's or Zero Punctuation's.

I'm not going to pick it up on release, but I really hope it nails the execution of what they want to create, in relation to the whole survival factor.  Graphically, looks like a beautiful piece and that atmosphere....

A very short vid going over sound and music: Stepping on vegetables, orchestra, the film's recordings, and in game execution.
