I might get it, but I need to see more. I'm not totally sold on it yet.

Yeah the same. I will hang on until I check out a couple of reviews first though. Don't want to buy a turd.

Checked the trailer. Looks great, but I'm holding my wallet until metacritic gives a better picture for gamers. Though to be fair, these guys seems to reeeealy know their lore based on the Gameplay Video. Haven't seen much that hasn't been done in previously similar games i.e. Dead Space, but it still looks like they've got the vibe right.

Yeah the game has potential, and I'm definitely interested to see more. I will check it out if it's at E3 and wait for the reviews and gamer feedback.

October 7th? Perfect. Plenty of time for people to get their opinions out, and if all goes well, I'll pick it up when I'm done with uni over Christmas.

I don't often play survival horror, but I can hardly resist one in the aliens universe, so I'll probably get it even if its just 'ok'.

http://www.forbes.co...-pre-order-dlc/

I was surprised reading about this, not sure why, but I wasn't expecting any preorder business. Seems the general reception is a bit negative. Some Alien fans are upset the original crew could be locked off for them if they don't preorder, others are upset because they are too nervous to preorder & will miss out. Colonial Marines aside, this looks to be the first time Isolation has really rubbed people the wrong way.

Basically the original Alien cast is returning to voice their characters in special preorder exclusive content. With Gamestop receiving additional exclusive content. I think it's pretty good that they're meeting that cast, maybe that'll improve the core game in some way.

No. I like not having nightmares and being able to sleep with the light off at night.

So... nope.

For some reason, I can't tolerate those creepy little face hugger things.

I was really looking forward to it but Sega's latest stunt with that pre-order DLC makes me question whether I should support them at all.

I was looking forward to this until this DLC Pre-order appeared.  I don't like the thought of content being locked out just because you don't get the game from a specific store.

Store-specific content has been around for ages.

Usually it's some completely unnecessary stuff.

But honestly, you can't say that DLC is evil. I don't like it, but as a buissness model, it's not "unfair"

This is not some magical staff, a re-skin, or an extra map or two we're talking about, nor are we talking about DLC. We're talking about Sega purposefully creating specific gameplay that most Aliens' fans would love to get their hands on and then locking said gameplay behind a first pre-order gate and then a second store-specific gate. Not to mention the fact that, without a doubt (because there's no way in hell Sega can pay the VAs' salaries on the sales of that content alone), said gameplay will be paid for by people buying the standard edition of the game. I don't mind Sega releasing this content as DLC so that Aliens' fans can get a more complete experience if they so choose but this is simply not right and it shows how powerful (too much so) retailers such as GameStop have become.

And this is only the beginning...

Why GameStop wants to get involved in a game's development

And I say it matters little if it's an item or extra content (items are also content b.t.w.).

It also matters little if fans want it. Wanting is irrelevant. Fairness is irrelevant.

What matter is if you are getting what you paid for. If someone gets EXTRA because he paid more, or bought trough a special deal, that's not unfair really. You're not getting less.

I hate the practice, but it's not unfair.

I would be okay with Sega releasing this as DLC. As you said, in that case, people who pay a little bit more get a more complete experience that doesn't detract from the main game. But this goes beyond paying a bit more. It's paying more, beforehand, and in a specific store. It is a perfectly valid business model, yes, but it does nothing for gamers. Ultimately though, it will be up to gamers to decide whether or not they agree with this business model.

I really want to pick it up, but I can wait till I see it in action and reaction from the community, to see if its worth it. I'm hoping for the best, truly - Alien fans deserve an excellent game.

No, because I'm a coward.

Will watch Youtube playthrough though (With security blanket clutched to my chest  ) same way I watch Amnesia playthroughs.

The devs have now confirmed the DLC will both be available at a later date, preorders get them for free.

Since they claimed to have completed the majority of the game some time ago, I'm less worried they might be distracting resources with this... But I guess that's still a possibility. Perhaps Sega was confident enough with the game to go for the cast, can't be too cheap going that route, although it probably is just an insentive or reward for taking a chance with the preorders. They can't have missed how nervous people are after the last game.

As long as all the content is made available at some point then I'm good.  My main concern was the portion being exclusive to pre-ordering at a specific store only.

That I know of... Game recently passed a million sales, Sega is pretty happy about it & people say it was one of their few successes in the last year or so, looks like a sequel has got a good chance.
