I have it.  I can't speak too much about it because I am hysterically bad at it.  It's slow to start, which I kind of love because it really feels like the original movie, which is also slow to start.  However, I've yet to survive a single encounter with the alien.  I can't hide from it because I'm always found.  I can't run from it because it's always faster than me.  I can't chase it away with the flamethrower because it always kills me first.  I, literally, have gotten killed by the same encounter a dozen times.  It's even better in the Sole Survivor DLC where I can't get more than 15 minutes into the story without having alien tail penetrating my torso.  I'm going to give it another go, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it.  It seems like an awesome game for those who can figure it out, though.

Locker Isolation is pretty good when I'm able to advance. Sometimes the RNG dictates that I must remain in one place for a long time, however.

On the other hand, I love how it captures the feel of the first movie, which often had me on the edge of my seat when I was a kid.

This is why I have decided to buy it. I LOVE a challenge.

Been playing it for a couple hrs now... like it very much. It's very clear the devs have a love of the source material; from the sound design to the 70s computer graphics to the VCR effects during menus. Just beautiful.

I also like the way it paced, and I am pretty sure some dramatic stuff is just around the corner.

(so exciting)

Totally.  That's why, even though I am **** at the gameplay, I still have great things to say about the game.  Alien is one of my favorite movies of all time (top three for sure), so the fact that they really captured the feeling of that movie is fantastic.  Plus, the addition of the original actors for their characters is the icing on the cake.  An Alien videogame with sci-fi queen Veronica Cartwright providing VO?  Yes, please!

Don't get into lockers, it figures it fast, while hiding under a table was more sucessful. Try to stay out of small rooms. Have an object ready to throw away from you if you see it coming. Crouch a lot. Motion tracker doesn't detect it if it's not moving, so don't feel safe when it gives a blank. If you can go around it throw something the other way to distract it before trying. Try to avoid long halls lines of sight.

I'm in the medical guard and it's almost as scary as Amnesia prison level, so great so far. Would have liked being able to hurt the alien and then have to deal with decompression, but it looks that was too complicated from an article I read.

I hope you guys liked it.

You might not be getting another one.

Alien: Isolation & Sonic Boom under-performed according to management expectations.

Thread digging because I'm bored with some free time atm.

I started Alien Isolation a few months back. Good god it's a thousand times better than the last Alien fail game.

I really enjoy Isolation even though avoiding the Alien can be a bit of a btich.

It's really fun and highly recommend getting it. You won't be disappoint.

I've been playing it a lot lately (perhaps a bit too much) *looks at last Exam*

I love that it's so damned difficult. Plus I'm a huge Ridley Scott & David Fincher fanboy

I would have more hours into it, but I'm waiting til my PC rig gets finished so I can play it on max settings.

Now that I'm looking forward to and I might even stream it. :bandit:

No need to get too crazy with graphics settings. I saw a YT vid where the guy had a ridiculous amount of resolution & it didn't look like "Alien" ... it looked like Star Trek or something. The surfaces aren't supposed to be pristine IMO

I have only dipped my toe in. I liked what I saw of "Last Survivor" very much. That said,

If you aren't a HUGE fan of the films, I would pass on the DLC

Huh. Interesting.

But I currently game on my laptop. It's not a bad laptop for gaming, not at all, but a lot of the new games I have to have on low settings. I seem to move in slow motion on Alien Isolation and even Fable Anniversary. It's playable, but barely.

MASSIVE fan of the first two films, MASSIVE fan of this game. Easily the most intense experience I've had gaming, and perfectly, precisely captures the tone and atmosphere of Ridley Scott's Alien. One of my all time favorite games, and I haven't even finished it yet.

Anyone else noticed the Android "easter-egg"? I just saw it... Eerie.

They run in place really fast like Ian Holm does in the original film

How hard is A:I?

I've been waiting for it to drop down to around $20, I've been looking forward to it.

I haven't changed the difficulty setting. It is challenging, but not as frustrating as some reviews have said. I am enjoying it

I didn't find it too difficult either. The alien's unpredictable, but there's a definite rhythm to its general behaviour.

It eventually gets an idea of where you're at, (as if its caught your scent) and will wander around adjacent rooms looking for you. Then its just a case of getting far enough away from it that it loses track of you, and starts a more general search.

You don't have to be too cautious once it loses you, and such a play style isn't much of a problem once you get your panic button in the form of the flame thrower later on.

Still, you do have to ration it. And a few moments in that game aren't all that conducive to that mentality.
