That one drives me to distraction.  Also annoying, "a lot" is two words.  Alot is a grammatic abomination that results in hilarious interwebz cartoons that help save my sanity.

Hey ESL speakers get a pass from me (and it's usually easy to spot via syntax). English is frigging hard. Half the people who are native speakers can't use it properly.

The problem with English is that half the rules cut back on themselves and all the adjectives are backward.

Thank you! I still don't understand why people started saying "I could care less"... it is one of those things that just annoys the hell out of me.

Also I still don't understand the phrase "you can't have your cake, and eat it too". Why would I want the cake if I can't eat it. That must be one damn fine looking cake for it to be a better decorative piece than actual food.

I suppose you could say that to be ironic, but the majority of people I hear use the phrase "I could care less"  are using it purely out of ignorance that they are unintentionally saying they do care while implying that they don't. It is something that you know what they are implying when they use the phrase, but it is still annoying to hear.
