ME2-only, right? Because the writers admittedly forgot he was a romance interest in ME3 and had to toss a couple lines in there acknowledging it last-minute.
Didn't even know that
. I actually just read about that romance back around the ME3 launch and only carried out all of Thane's story as a male friend to him in my playthroughs. Poor femShep was shoe-horned onto my Steelbook last minute in the saga so, eh, get over it femSheps.
micro-Rant: I had to deal with inconsistent art on the close of my favorite trilogy for what I don't even see as a great alternative. Two Shepard's all of a sudden? I open my CE and femShep is what I see first? And not a femShep that was relevant to all three, but rather one that only got put in as fan service for the end? Despite how many people were playing default maleShep or totally divergent custom Sheps. It was about as fitting as putting N7 on a hoody and then putting it in the game (how anyone could think that or any of the N7 explosive branding fit in the series if they knew what N7 was in the ME universe is beyond me). BioWare listens to fans to a fault. That's what lost us the Mako and the customizable inventory collecting instead of just getting an improved iteration of exploration and RPG elements.

It would've been pretty amusing if they never remembered before the game was published. Download the Thanemance DLC.

Not quite sure what you are getting at here. .

The one thing bothers me is why couldn't Steve, Miranda, Jack and Samantha escort Shepard during the casino mission?
Yeah, there to totally should have been an option to take Traynor, play the archives, and then lose the game when she can't help you get into the Normandy; if you relied on quick saves and have to restart the game because all your quick saves are unwinnble, too bad for you.

Who said anything about taking her to the Archives?

ME3 only:
The good: Ashley, Kaidan, Liara.
The mediocre: Garrus, Tali, Steve, Samantha.
The bad: Miranda, Jack, Diana, Kelly.
The ugly: Jacob, Thane. Awful resolutions.
The DLC-dependant: Javik, Samara, James. They should have been available from the start.
Vanilla game alone?
The Good: Liara (obviously)
The OK/Mediocre: Kaidan, Ashley, Tali, Steve, Garrus, Samantha
The Bad: Miranda
The Ugly: Jacob, Thane, Jack, Diana, Kelly
Game + DLC?
The Good: Liara, Miranda (IMO, by far the best improvement, and mixed with her role in the main-game, actually feels just a little bit more than a glorified cameo), Kaidan, Thane (gets some decent posthumous content in Citadel)
The OK/Mediocre: Ashley, Tali, Garrus, Jack (despite the decent content in Citadel, it still doesn't cut the fact her romance was absolutely non-existent in the vanilla game; scratch that, Jack was non-existent), Steve, Samantha, Jacob (you at least get more closure on that end)
The Bad: Thane (Citadel still doesn't make up for how bad his actual romance is)
The Ugly: Kelly, Diana (It's a crime Kelly wasn't involved with Citadel; Diana was a pretty bad fling to begin with)
The Citadel Exclusive LI's
The Good: James, Samara (I think both of them were good. I prefer James to Kaidan; it's a crime he wasn't an actual LI in the vanilla game)
The Ugly: Javik (no... just... no)

James doesn't come across as an entirely willing participant if memory serves...
He's kind of terrified that his hero, his idol, is interested in him that way. It doesn't make a lot of sense to be honest; the game has him being a shameless flirt if you're a Femshep, but the minute you show real interest, he's actually scared.

James. The game's recognition of him being a favourite character for the ending scenes made my headcanons feel validated. Even though the romance is not really there it can be a lovely relationship (thoughts on the Citadel scenes notwithstanding).

Which makes it hilarious (at least to me) when FemShep shreds him apart like a lecherous cougar.

Jacob.
Everyone seems to hate him, and I don't know why.

I don't use the word rape likely, but that feels a lot like that to me when Shepard keeps asking if he's drunk enough to sleep with her. It's like a date rape situation. The situation would appear a lot less appropriate if it was an older guy try to get with a young girl using his power and coercion to get him drunk enough so he could sleep with her. It doesn't matter if he finds her attractive because that is one of the most common questions the attorney asks the victim like she was asking for it if she had shown some interests before being raped. I don't know, the whole scene with James makes me really uncomfortable.

The problem is that femShep isn't old enough to be a cougar. Cougar > 40 yrs old. But wait! She's been dead! Is this the problem? She's been dead. Is Jacob really concerned about necrophilia? Miranda falls in love with her own creation... meat and tubes and probably had to grow organs from tissue and reassemble them together.... Dr. Frankenstein.... "It's alive! It's alive it's alive it's alive! Now I know what it feels like to be God!"
