I installed a new hard drive yesterday, and was mid-way through a game, just up to the Wending Wood on Awakening.
Before putting in the new HD I backed up the 'Characters' folder, and so after Windows 7 and everything else was set up on the new drive I went through the rigmarole of re-installing Origins Ultimate Edition from the retail CD.
Install takes a long, long, long time, and didn't seem to want to install in the usual Programme Files (64) folder, giving me a message about administrative permissions blah-de-blah... Eventually installed it into a 'Games' folder on Drive C.
Put the 'Characters' folder back into place, re-installed all the various mods I use, and tried to launch the game... ...Error message about some missing DLL file....
Ok, sorted that out with a fresh Direct X install, this time it launched... thank God!
Now, here's the weird part.
I was expecting to have to go through all the palava of downloading the DLC (and I vaguely recall this being a bit problematic and tempremental back when I first bought the game all that time ago) but no...
For some reason, all the DLC was in place, every single bit of it, without me (apparently) having to do a single thng, it was just there, and it worked.
So, what happened? (not that I'm complaining hehe) Does it stealthily download in the background during the install process? Or is the DLC somehow tied to the 'Characters' folder I backed up, or was the DLC just a super-fast download that happened in seconds as soon as I launched the game... or Maybe all the DLC is already on the Ultimate Edition install CDs, if so why didn't it install the first time I ever installed the game?
Anyone care to cure my curiousity?
