What's wrong with this armor?

This is not armor. It's clothing.

Even calling it clothing is generous, I'd call it 4/5's of a Zentai suit.

Can I just say I hate the mage robes? I know mages can summon barriers but if they are being used in a combat capacity I would imagine their gear would maybe look MORE like what the Champions armor was:

The mage one I am speaking off... tone down the spikes and make them more rounded like the massive armors were in Origins and I figure that would be closer to what mages would ACTUALLY wear in battle. Or at least limit the "skirt" like look of them and make it more like a super long trench coat. Cause that skirt type thing would be a trip hazard.

Hush, now. I'm sewing razor blades along the edges of my trench coat and hat so that, when my rogues whirls in battle, she gets bonus damage and Dat Hat crits for double when I throw it. I want my SWTOR smuggler armor!

I love mage robes :< I would hate for my mages to be forced to wear armor and be the same as a warrior/rogue. I never wore the champion's armor, only the robes of unblemished cleanliness <3 I think having a good mix of both types as well as something in between like the legacy warden's armor would be good.

Wait.. I find cool and awesome looking armor more attractive than sexy overly revealing armor So now I feel weird in saying that I think Its annoying that most of the time you see cool male armor Versus skimpy female armor.

It only an issue to me when anyone thinks how to make something look more generally attractive Over cool and/or functioning and try to say it makes sense or its justified somehow like it being ok if its like that for both genders or it makes the character faster or more stealthy to wear less clothing

I kinda feel like they went out of their way to make Morrigans outfit to be attractive for no reason, the overall style of it did feel suiting for her character but not whatevers attractive going on in it.
S lot of the robes in da2 were Great though

Yes, it would be good to have a wider variety.  I rarely play a mage, and part of the reason is because I don't want to role-play a character who would wear any of the robes available in the game.  There were a couple of non-robe mage armors in DA2, but all of the mage armors with the better, higher-level stats looked like chantry robes or something one would wear to a formal ball.

That's a big reason I don't play as a mage, too! Hawke looked pretty ridiculous skipping through Kirkwall in heavy, floor-length robes.

I'd like the armour to reflect the male and female form more notably because having my female warrior look like she is hulking around a refrigerator is very disheartening. But I am not saying bikini armour is the way to go.

I think that should be something only available as a mod, though. There really shouldn't be "female" versions of armor. There should just be... armor. If you're gong to play as a warrior, the armor is going to be bulky, regardless of your sex.

I won't lie, I often like both my male and female characters to look like a pretty pretty princess XD I think they're doing adaptive armor this time so if you find one you like the look of you can keep it and upgrade it as you go. So as long as they include both traditional robes and armor, we can both keep a look we want :)

That raises an interesting point. What if there were informal and formal clothes in game? Combine that with an event where your success hinges upon how well turned out you are and it could be quite fun!

I have nothing against revealing armour, for either male or female characters. Bioware's very good about keeping armour realistic and protecting essential body parts so I don't think it will be a problem.

That being said, if an NPC wore a revealing outfit and said outfit makes sense with regards to his/her character (Isabella or Zevran) then I think it could be pulled off.

I honestly want more of the robes to be like this:

The standard robe annoyed me as every other robe is like that with just different colors.  It was annoying.

As a mage, I hope there is a way I can wear something like what Alistair (that is Alistair right) has in that picture with maybe a couple pieces of armor here and there like maybe something across one arm like this:
Posted Image

Not that bulky obviously but something kinda like that just for the arm.

I know this is off topic from armor but seeing the robes on Alistair there made me realize something.  I know the tattoos being on the face are because that's the most likely area that they will ever get to be seen...  but could we get some for the arms perhaps.  I know when wearing the Champion's Mage armor there was a tattoo that appeared that isn't on the arm at any other point in the game.

Oh don't get me wrong, I find the visual qualities of both styles to be positively fecal (female version of the Circle robes honestly doesn't look bad though), my first impression of the entire franchise was seeing the mage robes and thinking "oh wow, what the hell is this".

Now, this is how you do mage robes:

Agreed... and if I am a mage that has a focus on combat magic I would love to have my robes be tattered and frayed from spells gone slightly amiss/being the target of enemies.

Dark Souls 2, from the certified insane team that broke down Ayn Rand's objectivist utopia idea into a mech combat game, years before Bioshock even made Atlas Shrugged common knowledge.

Anyway, there's been a lot of talk about Plate and Robes, but how Sexist can Leathers or Mail armors be and still get away with it?
