I don't pre-order games or buy day one anymore. DA2 was the straw that broke the camels back on that one. Lately I haven't even been buying new games anywhere near release. I've just been getting cheap games of Gamefly, Steam or Gamersgate that I always said I was going to play one day.

PS+ from PlayStation is a great value. Free games this month include Bioshock Infinite, Uncharted 3, Borderlands 2, as well as games for PS4 and portable devices. Even though I don't have a ps4 yet I can purchase the games for free with my account on the internet and download them at a later date. You also get good discounts as well.
Gosh darn, Microsoft. Step your game up. We got the Tomb Raider arcade game while PS3 users get fricken' Dragon's Dogma.

Sort of.
After ME3 I promised to never, ever pre order another video game ever again and for the most part I intend to stick to it ( I broke this rule to pre order my PS4, Assassins Creed 4 for the PS4 and Destiny for the PS4 ). It has come back to bite me in the ass however, I had to travel to 6 different game stores before I could find a copy of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and I was lucky to get the last one at that particular Gamestop, I also got a lecture from the sales clerk about how risky it is not to pre order major releases on the run up to Christmas.
I'm also trying to hold off on buying a lot of games at one time ( it's better to focus on 1 or 2 at a time ) and then buy a new one when I am done with what I have, my game completion rate has suffered a lot during the 360, PS3, Wii, DS, 3DS and PSP era due to the fact that insisted on owning all of the consoles and having a healthy library of games for each, that means I was always working on at least half a dozen games at one time. Obviously this is a very hard habit to break seeing as I still own all of the above and now a Vita, a WII U and a PS4 but I am working on it and making slow and steady progress with it.
As for what games I buy, that has never been an issue, I have always been very careful about what I buy.

In general, yes, but there are still some genre-specific flaws. For example, I never seem to learn that 2d fighting games might not be my thing.
*Didn't like Street Fighter*
"Eh, maybe I'll like Mortal Kombat."
*Nope*
"Eh, maybe I'll like Blazblue."
*Not really*
etc.
I swear, the new Guilty Gear is the last chance this sub-genre gets.
