.....don't act like a visigoth.

That sounded terrible, I'm sorry.

They will be rounded up and used for target practice when rebuilding the military.

Yes, even Banshees and Cannibals.

I wouldn't be surprised if local folks pull out their shotguns and kill the stupid things

They are still Reapers, though? So presumably they'll go off helping the real Reapers with whatever they are doing wherever they have gone.

Did you make that just for this thread? I loved it.

They all run off a cliff and die, because now they lack purpose.

I'm willing to get on board the hot tub party idea though.

The ending to Shaun of the dead comes to mind.

Nah, I can't claim credit, it's been knocking around for a while.

Of course, the question shouldn't be what do the Husks do... but what does them

I think husks are not sentient, they are under reaper control and synthesis doesn't change that... husks are empty mindless things which cannot survive without someone pulling their strings.

Keeping that in mind, my guess is the writers used the husk as a way to display the reapers surprise at their newly gained freedom.

Well it's good to see everyone  supports equal rights for rehabilitated space zombies :)

I'm betting they will take the place of Vorcha as the ground fodder of mercenaries.

In destroy they are dead.
In control you (Shepard) lets them do... whatever.
In synthesis they dance.

In refuse, they do what they normally do.

He could date an awakened Banshee and have lots of little grey babies, assuming their genetic "problem" has been fixed. Though judging by the way they like to impale me in MP, I suspect this is not something the Reapers corrected.

Hope he doesn't get into a spat with the missus.

I am absolutely sure that there are nice cooperative sentient alien races in the MEU that are even more disgusting looking than husks, so I'm not sure what the argument is that is being made with the husk pictures.

Them being the equivalent of ME3's own version of the "zombie apocalypse" comes to mind as the key reason why it's being made fun of this way.

Could have been alleviated somewhat by establishing firm fact about what their further role is in the great scheme of things in Blue and Green, rather than omitting them. Spontaneous things that come to mind:

1) they are shown to be the galaxy's work-force/"slaves", going places their Reaper masters can't as per AlexMBrennan's suggestion

2) they are - thankfully, mercifully - decomissioned regardless. Red obviously shows a "faster" way of doing this, but still.

Ultimately, it's not at all hard to see why the idea of them becoming sentient is seen as horrific and/or ludicrous as is.

On a more serious note. I just found myself watching the Synthesis ending again. When the husk fighting the Alliance marines is hit by the wave the camera focuses on the husk and it seems to express some sort of emotion like surprise.

From the Synthesis is the paragon choice thread (which kicked all this off):
