Oh I'm sorry I never knew what this "sarcasm" is, please sir enlighten me by telling me what sarcasm means so I can finally be free from my personal ignorance.

I know what bloody sarcasm is and I don't like being treated otherwise, from last I remember sarcasm is followed by a "Vocal inflection" which in other words means a sarcastic tone, I don't hear a sarcastic tone coming from a couple of lines of text do you? I sure as sh** don't.

I thought the sarcasm was pretty obvious, especially with this line in the text:

and obamamamacare is bankrupting the inner four planets of our solar system.

Anyway, BioWare can't win on the 'trying to please every fan' front. Because no matter what they do, there will be a contingent of players that will say this is precisely what BioWare did when they run across game features they don't like.

They don't have to please us all for 95% of the game but on a few key points they should be doing everything they can to please everyone. (As in endings.)

If Bioware tried to please everyone, we'll end up with bisexual mailboxes for the fangirls and dumbed down gameplay for the casual masses.

So yeah, I agree with the OP on this one.

BioWare are composed of game developers, not caterers. Gaining feedback can be a helpful tool, but simply succumbing to fan demand isn't always the answer.

"x doesn't need to please every fan, just me." - gamer logic

Nope. If I don't like it, I'll stop buying it.

they already know this they aren't idiots...

Yep. This isn't the first time the sentiment has come up.

Because no matter what they do, there will be a contingent of players that will say this is precisely what BioWare did when they run across game features they don't like.

I forget the exact article it came from, but one developer mentioned how "Sometimes it boils down to which features/design choices are going to anger the least amount of fans".

They should be out to tell the story they want to tell, and to make the game they want to make. They shouldn't attempt to please those who will cry and winge when BioWare has the gall to create an ending that isn't tailor made for those individuals.

Better yet, try to make every fan angry.

X:Rebirth is a great example of just that.

Just try to tell a good story, mesh the positives of DA:O and DA:2 together, and improve on the more glaring negatives. Make fanservice a distant low priority; just do your thing and take the forum's almost-competitive bitterness with a heavy grain of salt.

Funny, if they didn't "try to please and/or have fanservice" you guys would probably still cry about not having playable races and other stuff just sayin...

Seeing as how different playable races were a strength in DA:O that was abandoned in DA2, I wouldn't really call that "fanservice".  The addition of the qunari could, potentially, fall in that category.  We'll have to see.

I only play human, most of the time, anyway, so I don't care. Never cared about that.

True, but if the game wasn't to be extended  till 2014 we would have probably be stuck with just humans again

Maybe they should just make the "dumbed down gameplay for the casual masses" and not try to please any other gamers, then. After all, they shouldn't try to please every fan.

Especially when you consider the amount of people who play the other races.

They should tell the story and then give an ending that is potentially satisfying to all like DAO, unlike ME3.  This is not high art or some Hemingway novel.  At the end of a game I want the ability to feel sad or good about my character and his/her actions.  A forced, my way or the highway ending destroys games.
