I disagree.  I think Duncan's Sword is now the best sword in the game.  Either that or Maric's Blade.

I would agree, plus you can add runes to these, making them even more awesome!

My DW City Elf Warrior loves her Starfang/Keening Blade combo, if only because it looks badass, particularly when the Keening Blade has a flame rune and Starfang has a lightning one (I like the 'Swords of Light and Darkness' look it gives).

Though yeah, Starfang has the best 'base stats' of any longsword. I've never had the twohanded version, but I assume its the same way. The rest depends on which bonuses you want.

I failed to consider dual wielding warrior builds for some reason. :pinched: Well, in every other situation I still cling to my opinions. For a sword and board user, the Keening Blade is almost identical to Starfang. It is only a question of what the player prefers more: higher attack from Keening or better defense from Starfang. The only thing that makes Starfang competitive is it is useable by rogues and potentially available much earlier. The divide is simply not wide enough for me to feel Starfang is unequivocally the best one-handed sword available. Rogues are better off with daggers or Duncan's sword, apparently. Not that dual dagger rogues are my preference. Only that its superiority to sword/dagger or sword/sword is common knowledge; making Starfang not too great for rogues.

On a purely superficial level, I dislike its design. Too... fantastic? :P I prefer the plain longsword models to those wavy blade designs.

Can I ask about that dual-wielding issue - sword/sword versus sword/dagger? Sorry if this isn't the best forum to ask... I know that in the D&D-based games like Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate it made a difference what you had in your "offhand". Does it matter in DA? what if your PC / NPC has all the dual-wield feats? does that offset any penalties as to what you should be wielding in your "offhand"? ("Offhand" may be conceptually meaningless for someone who is a master in dual wield.) Thanks!
