Why can't we do this?

I played Mass Effect 1 on the 360, and I'm getting Mass Effect 2 for the PC. Mass Effect 1 won't run on my PC(even though Crysis, Dragon Age Origins, etc. does). I don't want to go along with the default choices. Why can't we pick every one of the choices that affect Mass Effect 2 ourselves? It seems to me like Bioware just wants more money.

There are close to 100 choices. Also, what does this have to do with Bioware wanting more money? That makes no sense at all.

Why won't it run on your PC (I mean the first game, obviously)?

Maybe there is a way to fix it, and if you skip conversations by tapping space like hell, you can easily make your playthrough in a day.

How in the world are you able to play Crysis but you can't play ME1?

I don't know. It runs fine on the highest settings, at least when it's running fine. About every 30 seconds, the sound starts to go BRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNN(best I could describe it) and the game becomes extremely laggy. The way Bioware wants more money is by getting people to buy Mass Effect 1.

PCs can be finicky sometimes, it probably came up with some sort of startup error he couldn't resolve.

Well we can share saves on PC. With use of the perfect runthrough checklist couldn't players work together to set up a depository of characters that players can choose from if they were able to or lost their saves from ME1.

Most of the stuff that matters(like appearance and possibly name) seems to be changable in the ME2 import process.

Hell no. Mouse and keyboard controls are only better for RTS games. If they were so much better on the PC, surely your PC could run them?

Subjective, and not Bioware's fault that you think so. It's not some conspiracy to take your money.

That is ridiculous. In what way are you forced to buy Mass Effect 1? Because they made a sequal? Bioware does something revolutionary on you're claiming it's because they are greedy.

I agree with the first response you got. If you can't even figure out how to get a 2 year old game to run on your PC, maybe you're better off with the 360 version of ME2.

My computer runs Crysis on maxium settings at more than 80 fps average. It should run Mass Effect 2.

The reason you can't just choose all your choices at the start of the game is because, supposedly, it takes account of everything. Assignments you did, assignments you didn't do, how you did them, who you did them with(maybe), etc.

Is motion blur on??? My computer is a brand new gaming behemoth but with motion blur it lags the same way. Try shutting it off and it may work.

umm, of course they wanna get people to buy mass effect 1. and to buy mass effect 2. that's their job, thats how they put food on the table.

There is a bonus for people who played mass effect 1. It wouldn't be a bonus if you didn't need mass effect 1 to get it, now would it?

Don't be selfish.
