What the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm sorry, perhaps I'm missing the part where my opinion on cooler hair translates into "I'm gay". I either missed that part, or the part when your mother dropped you on the head.

I'm guessing it's the head ordeal.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though, i love my elves with big ears, just because that is my preference for 75% of my elves ( though not all) and yet some people do NOT want big eared elven women :P

Is that a mod? I made my current Elf's ears as big as I could in creation and they're still pretty small. Poking around DA Nexus only seems to bring up something for male elves, but maybe my search terms weren't great.

I hate the clipping - but you can still give more short/medium styles - and give more variety in long hair that is tied up or something. One pony tail, one bun up high, or two in the nape. That's it as far as DAO is concerned. There's myriad ways to braid hair, do twists and buns, and ties, and ribbons, and clips, and pins, and etc etc etc.

But they didn't include them. I'm not saying there should be a myriad to choose from, but really, the choices are pitiful. How about 20 (or even 10) each of short, medium, and long but 'up'. All would avoid clipping and you'd get lots more variety.

Edit: Even KotOR had lots of ways for females to have long hair, with attractive styles that didn't clip.

Yes, the ears were just modified using the datoolset -- no way to make them longer in the character creator that i could see.  :(

Methinks game companies overblow the importance of clipping.

Most people I know don't care, especially on hair clipping.

Seriously, though, if you've got long hair, you put it up if you're going to do anything with a helmet.  Works for bicycling, I imagine medieval combat is much the same, albeit without worrying about traffic so much.

Its not just helmets you have to worry about.

I have long hair as a bloke, and when putting on a chainmail I find the method of putting a pillowcase over your head first, and then removing it makes the whole process a lot less painfull.

Getting the chainmail off though again involves the pillowcase just so you dont end up walking round with your hair supporting a suit of chainmail

I dont care about hair clipping, its kind of ironic that I do care about weapon clipping. See two hander clipping through boots (back is the viewpoint 75% of the game) plain awful, yet this is in the game? plastic swords? and big ears arent without toolset?

The best looking helmets cover big ears just fine, pot helms like Soldier's helmet do not i admit.

I usually make my mages bald, even the girls. The hair conversation you get with Leliana is then a bit off the wall.

And BioWare wouldn't give us appearance options if people weren't interested in customizing their characters, aka playing Dress-Up Princess.

I play on the 360. The chicks have no appealing hairstyles. >:l

Anyone have any ideas, tips, tricks, whatever the hell I can get? I need a piece of eye candy when I fight the Darkspawn.

I guess it really just depends on what you find appealing. Personally I don't like long hair at all and none of my female characters in any game I've ever played has long hair. I think my character in profile pic came out really nice.

There's no tips or tricks I can tell you other than to get the game for PC so you can download some of the atrocious hair mods that people make. They're full of horrific long hairstyles that look like they were ripped off the heads of anime convention participants.

There is one strand of that hairstyle that goes through the dwarf female's temple which realy bugges me since I thought it was the perfect hair style for Serena Aeducan Dwarf Warrior Princess.  The character models and the clipping issues are pretty bad, it is the only thing about the game's graphics I don't like I hope Bioware can clean them up in the expansion.

Sadly, this is true. Here is a reenactment of me discovering this.

"Hey, a mod that adds 30+ hairstyles to the game? Sweet."

You say that...but when you have the perfect hair style it is really annoying when it keeps slipping inside her head.  I know long hair can be done in these games not sure why Bioware is struggling with it so bad.

Someone explain to me the big ears thing. People want big elf ears. Why?

As for hair, I always note that games never let you make curly hair. I take it that it would look bad, no movement etc.

It seperates elves from humans, without slightly larger ears they are just downtrodden humans *labeled* elves. In same way Dwarfs are always short, default elf ears are far too small to define that difference.

Its like all the moaning over elf romances and elves in general from players of Baldurs gate/Nwn. Well I hope those people are happy because now elves really get no love in this game at all. The city elf Origin is a great story one of my favorites but appearance wise, they are awful.

Breasts too big? now they look like ironing boards in light or massive plate armor. Realistic? maybe, nice to look? no.

Im just glad ive got the PC version to correct some of these ugly things.

I want big ears, to separate my PCs more strongly from their human counterparts, but I can't find a mod and have no idea how to use the toolset. *makes mopey face*

Ah, ok... I just find them to be cartoonish and possibly anatomically impossible. But then again, I have Tolkien prejudices. Tolkien elves were taller and stronger than humans and had leaf-shaped ears, not "pointy." So I'm also bothered by the elves in this game being so scrawny. I much prefer the longer limbs of my human female PCs. Ah well, to each his own.

Edit note:  I was interested to read in The Calling that, the character Maric tells us, elven eyes were considered to be unnerving.  I guess there's no way to really show that in the game, except that the elven eye shapes you're given seem to include more Asian- or Slavic-looking eye slants.

This probably may not apply to the OP, but I didn't realize that modifying the other presets gave different results until maybe my third playthrough. I thought all the sliders were the same and would just modify from the first default preset. I was looking at a different preset and proceeded to play with sliders and noticed that the results were very different even though I had sliders in the same places I normally would with the first preset. Now it's a personal rule of mine that whenever I make a new character, to use a different default head to modify just to force all my characters to look different since I tend to gravitate to the same type of nose, mouth, jaw width, etc.
