Edit note: I was interested to read in The Calling that, the character Maric tells us, elven eyes were considered to be unnerving. I guess there's no way to really show that in the game, except that the elven eye shapes you're given seem to include more Asian- or Slavic-looking eye slants.

Yep another difference, I dont consider them cartoony myself. Warcraft night elves maybe, those go abit too far for my liking. Still I dont see why players who want more difference are denied the options under the in-game character creator.. you can still make small ears.

I dont even use the default creator anymore even for humans, the toolset offers more indepth head shaping for unique characters. As a bonus those head morphs you create can be used in multiple saves without starting from scratch, if want to use the same head.  Image IPB

I want big ears, to separate my PCs more strongly from their human counterparts, but I can't find a mod and have no idea how to use the toolset. *makes mopey face*

Tutorial, there are some disadvantages.. Golem/spirit and burning man forms in the fade appear "messy", you cannot preview portrait changes with manual adjustment done in the toolset.

I thought most of my characters were pretty foxy! My mage in particular came out quite stunning IMO - I redid her in the game from the character creator version I'd made and I really like the result. Shame I have no clue if I can upload her now, as she was made in-game and not in-CC. D'oheth.

Long hair would be nice (if impractical for warriors/rogues) - I have long hair myself IRL. But I know it can be quite difficult to animate well, so I don't mind having it tied up instead. A few more options would be nice though, there are several that are just too similar, or look nice from the front and are a bit of a train wreck from behind.

I thought my human noble female was lovely... she's in the avatar, be kind please, I am now insecure on her behalf. :) She's not very distinctive, but I actually was going for a classic, English-rose kind of look, with golden-brown eyes which seem to be classic Fereldan. And as aforementioned, I thought her long legs made for a nice figure. Made Oghren's teasing of Alistair more realistic. LOL

I take it that by "clipping," people mean the odd effect which happens with dwarves' beards, where it looks like the hair is disappearing into the breastplate.

So like a lot of people here hair seems to be a big issue which I have to add my two sense in lol... I wouldn't mind a mod for longer hair n I don't wear a helmit unless I'm playing a male pc. I love the fact that you can add make up to your pc's which is wonderful but I'd also like the idea of having my hair just a tad longer than what you get with the game... Hey you could have hair so long it could become a weapon almost lmao... Just kidding but seriously maybe a mod with a lil longer hair styles.

I think Alliryn scrubs up very well... (see profile picture). First character I made and the one I'm currently playing through the game for the first time with. She's not very expressive in-game - I think she's smiled maybe once - but she's easy on the eyes. :D

Yeah, the lack of facial expressions in conversations/cutscenes kind of irks me. There are a few places where your character will show emotion but 90% of the time they are in a total state of Zen.

See this is the main reason I like my PC version more than my 360 version - the mods. I love the fact that I can get just the right look for my characters.

Anyways - my PC is hot and that's all there is to it. I do wish they had a larger range of hairstyles and the like, but still - I'm pretty dang satisfied with everything lol

Go for a plain hair style and focus on making a pretty face instead of vice versa. honestly though, you rarely see female pc's face. and all the body types are the same so you don't get a hot piece of ass to stare at. =/ just find a preset you sort of like, and tweak the make up a bit, or change her eye shape and cheeks.

As the poster said, I was aiming for Penelope Cruz and am quite happy with the result...

I would just like to say that making an attractive character is tons easier in DA:O than it is in Mass Effect.

The best female hair in the game belongs to The Lady of the Forest and sadly that hair is not attainable since part of it is a section of the body.

It is attainable, though only through PC as a mod. Love Chargen and MOre_hairstyles mods :D

This! I want a butt, is that so wrong?   Female form = good, butts are a-ok by me - honest, the plate won't look bad and the leathers will look very good ...

:P

As for the ears too big and cartoonish -- to my specific elven heritage this is "normal" -- "unnatural" piercing eyes and long elven ears, this is considered the norm  :kissing:   Mine stick out more than normal, but i like to make one or two features a bit *off* because things being 100% perfect, to me, is unnerving...  you can't tell in my profile pic but her button nose actually has a bump on the bridge, slight, but there and obvious.  Gives her personality. Took one too many hilts to the face :)  My Alistair also sports a long facial scar he carries from the battle of Ostagar... helps to build the tale for me :)

What i really wish, is that at camp helmets just came off. You could have seperate camp-hair than your norm.  I use a mod that had a hood like attire which i love, but when i was at camp i wish i could be more relaxed and have no helmet/hood.

As far as elves and their ears are concerned.. I remember my first human noble playthrough when I went to speak to Iona in the study.
PC: "I haven't seen many elven ladies in waiting."

I was like.. wait what? She's an elf?

Sneaky elves, hiding their ears like that.

They ought to be branded like the casteless.

I'm part of the big elfy ear appreciation society, the first thing I did when I learned to use the toolset was make my mage's ears larger and rotated out. I don't need them to be "warcraft" big, but I like the aesthetics of the "typical" elven look, which DA elves don't have enough of, IMO.

I do think the character creator is pretty good on it's own, but I love being able to use mods and tweak my PCs features in the toolset. If I'm going to be the heroine of the story, I want to be the prettiest princess while doing it.

I'll be honest I don't go for a gorgeous sexy female look it ends up looking wrong, I try to make a female cute, you make her eyes a bit big, cheeks a chubby, nose a bit big and cute lips pull it off. I have both the PS3 and PC versions of dragon age and even with the mods for all the hair styles I still find the three pig tailed look the cutest....what I wish I could do is add a mole or some freckles...

Idk, I made an outrageously gorgeous dalish female, with white hair even...she just looked sexy, Then this one elven mage...I was trying to make her look like how I imagined Katriel, and she turned out beautiful.

I'm surprised at how formal most of the hairstyles are in the vanilla game since Bioware obviously has enough skill to pull off looser styles. Just look at the Lady of the Forest, for example.

I'm also surprised at how there are no scar options. Mass Effect had quite a few, but I suppose tattoos took their place.

I wouldn't mind seeing more long hair options. Maybe an eye-patch, a few scars, or some missing teeth for the veteran warrior look.

I only made a human noble for the express purpose of seeing what happened with the king/queen role in the expansion and I totally glammed her up so she'd look more of a queen than Anora. I ended up regretting it because it was like Malibu Barbie crash-landed on Ferelden, heh. Eh, well, she's just a throwaway character. I'm even going as far as waiting for RtO to come out so she can wear the gold armor and Alistair can get his own gold armor when he's declared king and they'll both match like Barbie and Ken. Haha.

:D
