Soldier played as a Vanguard, using heightened adrenaline rush (HAR) in place of charge. Although you not traverse the entire map instantly as a Vanguard, it is possible (with passive bonus, armor additions) to reach enemies quite far away. And HAR provides a HUGE damage bonus when you connect (point blank) with a shotgun...
The build (level 16) is based on HAR + passive, cryo ammo (Evi), incendiary ammo (Mattock), with slam (bonus) and deep cryo (Mordon) as short cool-down disablers, and warp (Miranda) and incinerate (Mordin) for barrier/armor stripping (and the occasional warp bomb!). Details at 16:52.
Soldier was the first class I played (before really understanding the game mechanics), so got bored spamming AR from cover. However, having a lot of mileage now with the shotgun + mobility powers (as VG, CQC infilltrator), I decided to give soldier another try... with fun results. Thanks to RedCaesar for the inspiration!
