Anyway, stock footage of planets never bothered me. Especially in a 'vast universe' series like ME. I mean, you could individually create every single planet that would be seen and it is just, I think, an unrealistic expectation.
On the other hand, chintzing out on the face of Tali is really unforgivable nonsense. Possible LI, one of only two squaddies that appears in the entire series, etc., etc. Please, that was ridiculous. I am not saying the original concept of Tali is the bestest ever, but it is miles better than what they did.
@dreamgaze. I will not defend plot reboots and falling from orbit. These are valid criticisms of ME2. Again, though, none of what ME2 did put a period at the end of the sentence, if you get my drift.

You're right: ME2's numerous significant faults were still left for ME3 to clean up after, which it did much better than it receives credit for.

I don't know, the things that didn't need to be cleaned up became a mess - lolol.

Falling from space, if you please. Normandy wasn't in orbit.

At this point I'm indifferent. Mass Effect 3 was an great and entertaining game, but not enough to hold me as a fan like the previous 2 entries. Between that and the juxtaposed lack of presence from Mass Effect Developers on this message board over the years, my focus is going to be on DA Inquisition instead for the time being. If bioware doesn't make their next ME game soon...
Not surprising, We've gotten quite a few hints that it may be more of a spiritual successor(and may not come with the same Mass Effect title). Until the actual gameplay appears, there's not much else to say beyond speculation.Give them time to flush it out and plan the the next batch of ME games they are working on.

Speaking of Drift... 1500k.. Sure, tell that too the mako not going through the citadel presidium out the side of the citadel after exiting the presidium relay...
The games have plot holes. Most scifi does, even Hard scifi like the Mars trilogy or RingWorld have plot holes even Asimov's Foundation series has plot holes. Nature of art and creative work. It's made by humans.
And Lazarus project is impossible. I said this on my blog back in 2010 on good ole' IGNorant.com.
Ebullisim.... It's a real b!tch.
Mass Effect is a herculean adventure about an unstoppable juggernaut that can speak and even defeat the Gods. It's a fairly tale, Space opera, adventure. The Rule of Cool is prevalent throughout.
And ROC supersedes anything and everything.
And Mass Effect "next" or "4" or whatever it will be called will do the same thing.

Okay.
Even worse.
Again, even ME3 was forgivable, as far as I'm concerned, right up until some glowjob appears and says "Wake up, Shepard."
No. Go back to sleep. You do not want to wake up to the writing that comes next.

Guys, if you really examine the established lore of the series, then starting with Ilos and the landing of the mako and Shepard derpin' around without a helmet- Ilos is a HOT world. massive fires and stuff, it should be at least a level 2 hazard but.... Not.

Try level 3.
The atmospheric pressure alone would liquefy even the toughest organics. That pressure combined with oxygen also makes it a toxic world. Most gasses are toxic to humans at certain ATM. Of courese, before Shep died of toxic exposure they's be crushed to death... The surface of Ilos is like being hundreds of feet below see level here on earth... without protective gear. Not even Wrex could survive.
Of course then there is the 'conduit' lol... Relays are NOT matter transporters... they need to align with one another to create a massless corridor. This is kind of hard to do when the relay on Ilos and the one on the citadel are in fixed positions and subject to the rotation of the planet / Citadel respectively...
This is not the conduit we were looking for...

Though it would make for some comedy.
And would give Marauder Shields one more point in the true hero column.

Bout time you got here.
And please, put the episode out already...
I really want to know why their are human numbers and letters on Ilos.... Since you know, it's a "prothean" world and stuff.
But again, ROC supersedes anything and everything.

Go back and listen carefully to Vigil. It may not be real, but it is the voice of Shepard's captures. It tells you all you need to know...
"First you must understand our mistakes so you do not repeat them..."
Your memories will give voice to our words... Now, enjoy the journey over the next two games while we tell you our story.

Too deep Miss J.
I fear that the ROC just might be what explains every "off" or lore breaking thing in the series.
But.... CW does have legs and it is intriging.

How so? No orbit means less velocity; if Normandy was anywhere close to rest relative to Alchera, Shepard only hits at 200 MPH, which isn't much at all if her suit's barriers are still working.

Re-entry does not matter. Ebullsim.
And if you take it at face value and that shepard's brain could be intact.
Then explain why Shepard's body was burnt so badly that they couldn't tell what gender Shepard was if the barriers or shields held up...
Meat and tubes.
I'll argue that it wouldn't matter either way, cause in about 40 seconds or so after the suit rupture Sheps brain boils and turns to mush....
= Bad day to be Shepard and not possible.
But.... Rule of Cool. Just go with the flow. Now, sometimes the flow is running uphill and sometimes down hill. As down is up and up is down but I'm sure we all get around.
Cause the begin is just the end. And we're all islanded in a stream of stars.

It's beyond you. And my keyboard is f*cked. I'm not trying to be funny.
Rule of Cool is what you should do when faced with questions and lore breaks reguarding Mass Effect.
Things happen because they're cool or new and slick. ROC.
I see.
The Rule of Cool is a fetiche of Mac Walters. Not that I don't like the guy, but let's be honest, everything he wirtes seems like he does it just for how cool it looks and sounds.
The Clone Shepard, Shepard's death, Garrus, Wrex, Vega, the Catalyst twist, the Reapers motivation twist, the Collector twist and the list goes on.

"Some of the ideas were a little bit wacky and a little bit crazy. At one point we thought that maybe Shepard could be an alien but didn't know it. But we then thought that might be a little too close to [Knights of the Old Republic character] Revan." Most intriguingly of all, Karpyshyn mentioned a discarded plot idea for the beginning of Mass Effect 2 that sounds similar to what Walters and the Mass Effect 3 team eventually chose for the trilogy's ending (er, spoilers): "There was some ideas that maybe Shepard gets his essence transferred into some kind of machine, becoming a cyborg and becoming a bridge between synthetics and organics - which is a theme that does play up in the game," Karpyshyn concluded. "At one point we thought, maybe that's how he survives into Mass Effect 2."
