Will we have a great NPC for romance? like Alistair

What I found to be disconcerting was that other than in camp (or during the "romance" scenes in ME series) there was really no acknowledgement of a relationship other than the scene where they make the commitment to you. I'm not saying I want massive smooching in the middle of a mission because that would be foolish, but it wouldn't hurt to have an offhand remark occasionally - after a battle asking if you are okay, etc. I always felt it was really unrealistic to have the whole thing ignored except for one two-minute scene.
In DA2 I just felt that all the LIs were damaged goods. Even Fenris was moody and cranky. I'd just like someone masculine and not screwed up. Varric would be fine (he was my favorite character in DA2) but whoever it is I'd really like him to be relatively well-adjusted.

In DA2 I never noticed it before but if your LI falls in battle Hawke will sometimes say something about it.medusa_hair wrote...
I really liked Alistair. He was amusing and he was charming in his own naive way. "I am a lucky man" (I love how he said that) Zevran had his own charms but he was a little too jaded for me.

Also, your companions will sometimes have ambient convos about it with your LI.
Morrigan ALWAYS gets on Alistair or Leliana's case about it.

So I'll settle for Cullen.

Even though its Mass Effect, the best romance...ever, was Thane. God I love that romance.
Yessir, this is correct. I do too. I'm replaying now and I really wanted to branch out but I had a hard time staying away. Plus he has that voice...

Gaider has stated quite explicitly that Varic will not be romanceable.Orian Tabris wrote...

I admit I am a HUGE fan of Alistair...he is one of the most rememerable (don't think that's a word) character I have played... and I don't think I am his only fan
You meant memorable. Now when you say "played" do you mean you tricked him, or you controlled him in combat or moved him around?
Anyway, define "great." Not everyone has the same opinions on Alistair, nor does everyone like romancing humans.
There's a good chance Varric will be romance-capable, since I don't think BioWare would give us a companion in two games, and not make them a possible LI... especially someone as popular as Varric.

They also said that the Inquisitor will only be human. And that there wouldn't be mounts. Things change.
