Well I think they should have benefits as well. Like metal gear smoking should give the ability to make your hands steady (make archers miss less).
Alcohol should make your characters immune to fear and be able to take more punishment.

In before some hippocrite finds it offensive to smoke and drink in a video game but finds it completely ok to murder people
It's a bit late to do that when a thread is already 5 pages in. If it's not. Then obviously your hypocrites aren't in a big number.

I don't see the point of including smoking. Unless it was an ancient Dalish recipe that sends you into an unstoppable berserk rage or something.
Smoking is awesome and cool. Not being sarcastic.

I had forgotten about that. In The Stolen Throne both Maric and Loghain are nauseated by the cloying smell of jasmine in the Dalish camp they are taken to. Loghain sarcastically asks if they are smoking it. Smoking did exist in Ferelden. I think a couple of those bald elf dockworkers in DA2 were holding pipes. Take a moment to imagine what it would have looked like if smoke had been coming out of the pipes. This is why they were bald. Maybe the new game will be able to include details like this - I'm hoping for it.

I don't know if smoking jasmine causes baldness. What I meant was that if low-res hair came out as horrible as it did think of what smoke would have looked like.Nuloen wrote...

Yea its ridiculous to make the claim that murder is ok but smoking is going to far. People need to learn how to seperate fictional immersion and realityEmperorSahlertz wrote...
Aren't people blowing this a tiny bit out of proportions by stating cancer as a reason for why they don't want smoking in the game?

HEY! Its a world with demons, dragons, weird creatures, dwarves, elves, qunari, magic, ghosts, monsters, etc. which is nice and totally realistic!
Having smoking and drinking in the world is not realistic. Too far fetched to fit the setting. Especially if you aren't immediately getting lung and liver cancer.

Imagine your LI starts a convo when you get back to camp with a blurry screen. You have to guess which options to choose, The game blanks out the responses. You have no idea what happens. In the morning you discover you have lost 50 influence and need to buy her gifts to get it back to normal. How is that not fun?!AppealToReason wrote...

That'd be too easy to circumvent. You could just avoid everything with save/load.

Juggling is both more awesome and cooler. They should implement that first.

True story: My dad got into juggling to help him quit smoking. He's been smoke-free for almost 5 years.
I support juggling in Inquisition.

A very good point that I failed to ponder over before I posted earlier a few days ago. I respectfully recant.

Tobacco was native to North and South America and this area.
Europeans prior to Columbus didn't have it.:innocent:
It could exist in thedas somewhere undiscovered. Or on another continent.

I'm down juggling a tabacco and alcohol addiction in game. They're both basically like needy significant others that you're playing. BUT YOU'VE GOT TWO OF THEM! Its basically a new romance option so everyone will love it.
