I missed seeing the combat log in DA2, I really wanted to know how many random mooks and demons my Hawke murdered and the elite bosses my party killed. I don't know why it wasn't included in the game (lack of time?) but I hope it's returning again in DA:I.
And while we're at it, lets also bring back the conversation log and other related things that DAO had.
Can we get the combat log back for DA:I?

It would be nice to see that return. Though right now I am just grateful that tactical view is returning,

I'd like a combat log that listed the mechanical calculations that took place during combat, like the combat logs we had in BG, NWN, and KotOR.
A statistics page like DAO would be nice, sure, but a proper combat log would be brilliant.

Indeed! While they may not be the most high priority feature, I do miss the combat logs.

I just like to know exactly how much contribution each party member has made, I like to use all my party members equally so they all get a decent amount of screen time, though I always have one member who never leaves my side xD

Awakening : Nathaniel
II : Varric

I'm of mixed feelings about the heroic accomplishments screen. I miss it when I play DA2 but that's because I check it obsessively in DAO. I check to see who killed the boss and if it isn't the party member I want I reload (did I say obsessively?). I feel anxiety if my PC isn't pulling it's own weight damage percentage wise and need to remind myself repeatedly that not everyone in combat has a role measured in damage numbers and kill counts. I think this is part of the reason it wasn't included in DA2 and if it doesn't make an appearance in DAI I will be neither surprised nor disappointed.

I Would like this too, and missed using it in DA2. It was useful to gauge friendly fire as well as whether the party was pulling their weight and who had got injured.
I always wondered why the friendship bar could not relate to the amount of times a party member went into battle and come out unscathed and not show some reaction to the PC leadership skills. If they fell in battle why did they not register the fact they'd been hurt in a decrease in approval rating?
Also the additional info like successful steals etc., was interesting to follow. From a commanding officer point of view, surely they would bring this back and maybe expand it to track the effectiveness of the agents/allies the Inquisitor will have at his disposal, rather than have the allies wheel that was used at the final onslaught in Denerim.
I'm also still hoping for the conversation log to return, found that very useful to figure characters out.

They did have one in DA2.
Remember those 74663654 times that Varric shouted "How many you got, Hawke?"
Well that was him keeping a combat log in his head.

I hope so. I reckon it was excluded from DA2 on account of it being a rush job.
And yes the conversation log too, we need that back, sometimes I need to recall what was said by an NPC. I was perplexed as to why it wasn't included in DA2 but I guess it was for the same reason as the combat log.

What would also be nice, since the conversation log in DAO was limited to the 25 most recent convos, would be if you could export the log. That way you can search for specific information. I know sometimes I forget which playthrough I said x, y or z. 'Kiss Alistair' and selling stuff to merchants can take up a lot of room, LOL.
I wouldn't have thought of this if recently I hadn't downloaded a mod for Skyrim (Take Notes) which allows you to write your own journal and export it.
Just a thought. I liked the conversation history, more detailed information on quests as you completed the steps, and the statistics in DAO.

Ideally, the conversation log would be accessible during conversations, so we could go back to check what was said earlier to inform our dialogue choice right now.Elton John is dead wrote...

Bloody brilliant idea.
(Bioware, you better be listening)

We could do this in BG and NWN, but nothing since.

I wouldn't mind seeing the combat log back, though I'm far more in support of the conversation log - particularly Sylvius' variation as stated above. That would be especially handy for the more in-depth/elaborate predicaments, and I remember using that very often in both BG2 and the Non-BioWare title PS:T.

I've been thinking about some of the kinds of choices I expect players may be asked to make in DA:I, and it seems to me that a detailed combat log is not just a nice-to-have, but essential.
I'm looking at:
- Health (and perhaps mana / stamina) not immediately replenished post-battle
- Limits on the number of potions you can carry
- Potions, runes, poisons, etc. require ingredients and coin
- Ingredients not unlimited, but must be acquired individually
- Weapon / armor crafting presumably requires ingredients, maybe coin
- No level scaling
... and it all points to a need to exercise judgement in managing these resources.
But without a detailed battle log, players may not have adequate information to make informed decisions about party or resource management. If DA:I battle stats are anything like DA2's, the damage numbers will be rolling on and off the screen so fast the player can't tell who did what where, and has zip opportunity to try to make any sense of it.
