This come play DAI in Vancouver invitation stuff means they want to get going on completing the game and ironing out the kinks imo.

If it's normal playtesting, they're more interested in how the players engage with the game. How their attention focuses, how intuitive the UI/Controls are, is it actually fun. It's not a Beta test, where the game is effectively complete and it's being polished, tuned and balanced (though these things are always ongoing through development)

If it's the kind of Playtesting I've participated in before, they basically hand you the controller and watch you play. They don't say a word, don't tell you what to do, they just watch.  The most valuable feedback in this kind of playtesting is the unspoken kind, though they're always receptive to that kind of input.

I think that's actually one of the oldest screenshots isn't it, back from E3? It's Morrigan in Orlais.

Either E3 or the GameInformer spread.

I think Morrigan is in Empress Celene's palace, judging from the painting of Celene on the ceiling.

She's apparently the Orlesian court mage, which was alluded to in the Origins epilogue.

I think he's asking for 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 followers.

You know, even followers.

Tell me about it. I destroy the Base, everyone loves me, even if they told me to keep it. I keep the Base, everyone loses their minds. Except Garrus, who is fairly chill about it.

I loved the idea of Morrigan but couldn't stand her selfish, survival-of-the-fittest personality.

Morrigan wasn't "selfish".  She was very typical of social Darwinism or NIetzchian "will to power" where the only way to get ahead is to stomp on people.  Such a situation is untenable to a genuinely selfish person because it inevitably puts you in a position where you don't dare sleep for fear one of your enemies (which basically consists of EVERYONE) will stab you.  Selfish people like to nap undisturbed.

You can't blame Morrigan for her attitude towards other people (humans in particular).

She lived around forest animals most of her life.

Even Flemeth wasn't human.

I think many people forget this fact when they bash Morrigan.

She's like, the only companion who is totally down with letting a desire demon possess a little girl. Zevran can also get approval under one circumstance.

She also advises a number of, well, terrible decisions. Leaving Redcliffe to fend for itself (you can't avoid it, so instead of facing the undead together, you let them gain more number, great plan), marching straight for Loghain without any sort of bargaining chip or political backup, killing her mother, etc.

She might have been taught to be the way she is, but you certainly don't need to like her.

And then superdeathdealer14 slew all the Morrigan haters, but just as he was recovering from his wounds he found himself surrounded by even more Morrigan haters. There was one thing he could do to end this, he uttered the words "Your argument is invalid"

I'm not trying to absolve her of anything, but there is a legitimate reason for her personality.

And I think we're going to see a more complex Morrigan in Inquisition, judging from Gaider's comment that she has a "human role" in the plot.

I just want a party member that's evil and self absorbed without being stupid evil like Morrigan was. Is that too much to ask?

Well, the issue with that is you want an "evil" party member.  I imagine very few people actually think themselves evil, or aren't some sort of good from another point of view.

What would do you good is a Tevinter Magister Companion.  Slavery, blood magic, human/elf sacrifice; but super pragmatic.  Instead of leaving the villagers in Redcliffe, sacrifice something to wretch control over the undead; boom, mini-army.  Something the Warden tried and failed to do with bandits.

tldr : Lawful Evil yo.

Hm, I've always enjoyed the party line up in the Dragon Age games. Origins was brilliant, and Leliana isn't what I'd call a goody two shoes (the whoring, manipulating, assassinating past really disprove that). She may try to strive to be a better person, or goody two shoes as you described, but she is what she is.

Only companions I ever had isssues with thus far are Anders and Fenris. Need I even explain...

Everyone is who they are.

Character developement and personalities are crucial in this game imo.

I want the entire party to be just like Merrill and Anders so I can watch BSN explode in rage.

I'd forgotten about that. I couldn't believe it when I lost approval with her when I saved the kid and backstabbed the demon.

Addressing the larger point in this thread; it never ceases to amaze me how many people like to play as an evil character in RPGs. I just don't get it. What's so wrong with being a goody two shoes?

Also, IRL, who would you rather have watching your back, Alistair, Leliana, and Wynne, or Morrigan, Zevran and Sten?
