All I really care about in terms of the Oscars are the actors. Everything else is just unfair listings that I wouldn't care less for.

2012 movies > 2013 movies ... there was great movies in cinema in 2012. Even superhero movies were better than those in 2013.
Despite 2012 Oscar was biased.

"How I kill threads" is the best movie!

Being fair.. American Hustle, Captain Philips, 12 Years a Slave, The Grandmaster and 'The Wolf of Wall Street' are good movies.

Decent.  Depends on how the voters view the subject matter, as well as how it's also Miyazaki's last film. Plus, there's the fact that the film's a real stunner. Frozen is very popular and conventionally appealing, though, and has already nailed a ton of awards.  And the voters have kids.

You don't happen to have anything more recent, do you? That was 11 years ago.

As Mycroft Holmes would say, "Balance of probability, little brother":

- 2012: Brave (American)
- 2011: Rango (American)
- 2010: Toy Story 3 (American)
- 2009: Up (American)
- 2008: WALL-E (American)
- 2007: Ratatouille (American)
- 2006: Happy Feet (Australian-American)
- 2005: Wallace & Gromit (British)
- 2004: The Incredibles (American)
- 2003: Finding Nemo (American)
- 2002: Spirited Away (Japanese)

Negative, but it is a foreign animated film from Miyazaki that won, and seven-time-winner Pixar doesn't have an entry this year.  If you ignore all their work, then the spread of winners is all over the place.  You also have to remember that this academy award category is relatively young (created in 2001).

It also depends on your definition of "foreign". Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a British production.

Perhaps, but I wouldn't ignore the appeal of giving Miyazaki an Oscar for his very last (exceedingly good) animated film, especially since there's precedent of Studio Ghibli winning in the past.

That said, I'm still predicting that Frozen will take it home. It's popular, conventionally enjoyable, and it does take a risk with its message about rushing into love.

Haven't watched the Academy Awards in ages, or really cared about them at all.

For me, it's fun to discuss regardless. The awards themselves stop being meaningful once you realize that politics, marketing, and creative agendas have just as much to do with them as the nominees' qualities as pieces of work.

Basically, a $5 budget film could come out thats actually better than a multi-million dollar blockbuster, but it won't win anything anyway.

Not unless it has a crew of thousands of people.

English/American animation dominance in Oscar/G.Globe etc. is an undeniable fact. Any European or South American animations? Nope (in b4 someone mentions something from 50 years ago)
'Spirited Away' was "11 YEARS AGO". People call someone who plays/watches something from 2003 old school these days!

Also I want 'Despicable ME 2' to win the Oscar. Make it happen!

Frozen is as ridiculously popular as it is because it foregoes Disney stereotypes you commonly see in their movies, its soundtrack is top notch Broadway musical quality, its score is a perfect Scandinavian-inspired compliment to the events of the film, it doesn't have a runtime issue(too long or too short a film), its animation is of very high quality, the attention to detail was quite extensive, and the plot is hands down one of the most solid plots ever in a Disney film.

People are rightly saying that its the best film Disney's put out since The Disney Renaissance.
