She said that to Hawke.
We won't be playing as Hawke.

Maybe she was referring to the exhalted march for foreshadowing.

What like how Morrigan was foreshadowing change is coming as a reference to the changes made to DA when DA2 was introduced?

Tallis was someone I never really had any strong feelings toward - good or bad. She was mildly amusing at parts, mildly annoying in others. But other than the ending (and the weak reasoning for joining the adventure in the first place), I have no real problem with her.

Was that actually the intention?  If so, it's pretty hilarious how that backfired at least as far as all the negatives DAII has as a result of being rushed if nothing else.

It's funny how people get their own characters wrong.

I wasn't a fan of playing as a mostly pre-defined character. I prefer to shape who the main character is in an RPG, rather than playing as one who is defined by the developers.

What people don't seem to get, is that BioWare didn't realise just how pre-defined they made Hawke. They never intended to throw decision-making out the window, and indeed, they didn't. They just failed to make Hawke more player-friendly. I'd say they limited themselves too much due to the type of story they chose (the story of a hero who was falsely accused of things they had no control over). If they had made Hawke more responsible, maybe they would have done a better job.

Had Anders and Tallis told Hawke what they were doing beforehand, and Isabela had told Hawke the thruth about the Qunari, players would have had more freedom with their choices (of course, that would mean that they couldn't set up future stories they have either yet to write/think of, or get to in 2).

I hate Tallis because she is Qunari. Simple as.

Add in all that La_Mer said, and the fact she spouts her brainwashed Qun gibberish at me and we don't get an effective way to counter it. Her views on mages are typically appalling as one might expect from a Qunari. You threaten to kill her but in actual fact you're powerless to actually carry out that threat for no good reason, Hawke just stands there.

And that vile little Qunari assassin gets her way. We can't kill her, take the list from her or hand it to the Orlesian dude.

I'm curious...how do you feel about Sten?

While I don't hate Sten, I dislike him quite a lot. I rather strongly dislike Qunari and think the Qun has some truly vile tenets. That being said I do recruit Sten into the party and tolerate him because decent warriors are always short supply in DA. And for the most part to get him to talk to you and explain about the Qun you have to draw the information out of him.

Tallis isn't nearly so polite. She shoves her Qunbot gibberish down our throats. But I have to admit her behaviour also plays a role as well as the fact she is Qunari. She's loud, obnoxious, evades serious questions, "I got your nose." Her remarks aren't funny. The reason for helping her in the first place is flimsy. I really can'y see why Hawke would care about some jewel that some strange elf just told you about. Her murderbowl entrance was just silly. She slaughters so many people then whines about killing a single guard later on in the story. Is she a merciless Qunari assassin or not?

I think I'd actually pay for a DLC where we get to murderknife her.

Haha, indeed! You have Alistair/Loghain, Dog, Oghren, Shale, and even the Warden, as warriors. To take the Sten purely to make up for a lack of warriors means that you're either not playing a warrior, ever, or you hate Dog, Oghren, Shale and Alistair/Loghain more.

In Origins, you get up to 5 (6) warriors, 2 (3) rogues and 2 (3) mages.
In DA2, you get up to 2.5 (3) warriors, 3.5 (4.5) rogues and 2.5 (3) mages.

If anything, Wynne and Zevran should be the characters you recruit to make up for a lack of characters with a specific class (or classes).

LOL that's interesting, I spend DAO, Awakening and DA2 wishing I had more warrior companions. Especially sword/shield warriors.

Hell no.

She's a pitiful excuse of a Qunari anyway.

Dog and Shale don't cout because they don't have a real warrior tree. That leaves Alistiar/Loghain, Oghren and Sten. Both Oghren and Sten are 2Hs, so really only Alistair is your S&S option if you don't roll a warrior Warden.

Not exactly.

While I do use Alistair in DAO, for roleplaying reasons I'd prefer not to. There are only two Grey Wardens. It seems slightly foolish to me to have both traipsing around on seemingly insane quests. For example, like climbing up a mountain fighting hordes of dragon cultists in pursuit of an urn that might or might not be real.

It seemed wiser to leave the Grey Warden and heir-to-be back in camp in case anything happened to the Warden. With that in mind yes I'd have appreciated another tank.
