Femshep is only a fancy option for feminist extremists that think having only a male char is mysoginist or something.

You're a dope.

My god, somebody dug up a thread over a year old and decided to post to it? The hell? How many goddamn pages did you have to vault through to find this.. christ.

Oh.. also, this horse has been beaten to death and put through the wood chipper more times than would be considered psycologically healthy.

This thread is pointless just like Harbinger's battle taunts...

Femshep is just an illusion and they will never show femshep in a trailer.
Deal with it.

It's because women can't *really* be soldiers. They're too weak and far too easy to push around... Also, who would you rather want to see on boxart? A female who can't hold a gun properly, or a built Hulk machine, single-handedly saving humanity?

I think I've proven my point.

@matt-bassist Wow...

I think Hale's shep should be marketed more, simply because she's the better of the two voice actors.

This thread again? *facepalm*

Hale is not better than Meer. Sometimes she comes off as manly, sometimes just as monotone as Meer. And Meer is no better. I think they both need work.

Well, I don't swing that way, so I'll take the female who can't hold a gun properly, thank you very much.

...

Okay, that was immature. But I personally do enjoy female protagonists. I wouldn't put FemShep on the marketing materials, though, mostly because the default look for FemShep is kind of "meh." FemHawke is a different story.

Not that MaleShep is particularly interesting, but at least his default face looks okay, if a bit too "Generic Space Marine."

I think it would be inconsistent to change the image of the game now, after two covers with one man as protagonist.

But yeah, at least a trailer with Femshep in it wouldn't hurt anyone. Since a femshep bioware official trailer seems unlikely, thank goodness Aislinn Trista is still around :)

I think he's just trolling for the laughs. I know there's a permeating streak of sexism within gaming culture (and human society as a whole, of course), but I can't imagine there's still a neanderthal alive today who thinks women are physically or mentally unable to learn how to hold a gun properly. Thus, lulz.

The gaming world isn't all that sexist.

Of course it is. It exists in the industry, in the audience, and with game journalism. There are a lot of blogs and articles dedicated to the topic. Here's a good place to start:

http://gomakemeasandwich.blogspot.com/

As well, try having an Xbox Live profile that is openly female and enjoy the sexually harassing messages. Go look up just about any gaming article on Jade Raymond, as well as read the comments. It's not a female-friendly hobby at all. And by "friendly" I don't mean being patronized and condescended to.

I think you're really talking about the community. The community is filled with idiots. And even then quite a few of them aren't serious (it doesn't make it any better). They are just retards.  That's just part of the gaming world. When it comes to things in games such as:

1. Femshep not on the cover.
2. Female characters being overly sexualized

That's just part of  the "sex sells" marketing strategy. It works every time. Developers of games aren't sexist, they are just sticking with something that works.

EDIT: For number one it's just that most gamers are male.

In any event, if they tried to put marketing spotlight on the female Shepard, you just know some prude would jump to the "sex appeal" argument on principle, regardless of it actually being prominent. The "faux news" crowd would bring back the "Mass Errect" gag and we'd all collectively facepalm at the idiocy of the human race. (FemShep is, after all, one of the least-oversexed female protagonists ever to grace the face of gaming, since she is, by default, quite ordinary in every respect, ME1's skintight armor style aside)
