Anybody else think CloneShep was a better antagonist in ME3 than Kai Leng?

I hated Kai Leng and thought of him as an ****, but I genuinely was scared of CloneShep.

The Citadel DLC was so worth it for the story alone, even if it was short. That scene where you are trapped in those containers and how the camera zooms out to show there are hundreds like them really unsettled me to the core. Shepard, lost forever in the Citadel archives while the galaxy needed him most....goddamn, what a way to go. I wondered what the others contained, unwanted heroes perhaps etc. and felt like I was letting the entire galaxy down as I got tricked and locked up forever in this haunting place. But thankfully Glyph - someone I otherwise never liked - saved Shepard and his squadmates.

Also the scene where you are trying to reach the Normandy in the docks while CloneShep is about to get away with it really had me on the edge of my seat. It may sound stupid, but I really wasn't sure whether we'd make it in time.

Also, the final battle against CloneShep in the hangar of the Normandy was epic. It was like a clash of titans, the best vs. the best, I was literally thinking on the spot and trying to outflank him and come up with strategies to get his shields and health down.

And the ending? Pretty sweet.

And then you return to the main game and Kai Leng can't hold up to CloneShep at all. Really cool stuff. So if anything, CloneShep was Mass Effect 3's final bossfight.

Part of me really didn't want to like the whole CloneShep thing. I thought it might pan out to be a little too contrived or silly.

I agree with you though. I found that I felt all the things I should feel about a good antagonist - fear, suspense, strange admiration, and a touch of anger. Kai Leng usually just made me feel frustrated or bored.

I found them both lame... Clone Shep was the gimmick kind of goofy, non-sensically lame guy, while Kai Leng was the cliched James Bond movie kind of annoying but predictable ******, lame character

Yes. Easily. Both are inferior to Saren in every way. But yeah, Clone Shep is better.

kai leng was simply annoying to me, though I guess that makes him a good villain (because I really enjoy running him through). as for clone shep, I thought the character was good, though the plot & vanilla shepard's dialogue could have used a bit of improvement.

Kai Leng could have benefitted a lot from a little more character exposition, but I think he had potential. Finally we had a person who didn't think Shepard was almighty! Unfortunately, he just came across as goofy and 'all-talk-no-action', and he had the same nonsensical shields as Saren did when a cutscene needed him to be impervious. Still, even without a lot of depth, he was easily a better character than the clone, who had none.

A better antagonist, though? Yeah, in terms of gameplay the clone was better and gave me a run for my money. But that's about it.

Also, you don't have to worry about the Archives being used as a prison for anyone else; the clone made no mention of having targetted anyone else but Shepard, and had no reason to do so. I think it was just meant to show that Shepard would be hard to find in such a big place.

The clone was just a tool. Brooks was the brains of the operation. And she had her own failures. But the two of them are an improvement over Leng. And at least the clone doesn't need a gunship and calling timeout every five seconds to recharge his shields.

Not a fan of the whole Cerberus clone malarkey concept. Just about workable in the very fluff dlc that was citadel but certainly not in the main story. That's not to say I found Kai leng any less terrible.

Kai Leng, his cutscene powers are something to be feared.

CloneShep is the only good villain in ME3.

Leviathan's ain't villains, while I honestly can not call Oleg a villain considering how terrible Omega was in first place and Aria.

Everyone else is just terrible, stupid and badly written.

CloneShep was better than Leng (imo). For two specific reasons: I didn't take CloneShep seriously in the least. And I found the addition of Kai Leng to be completely unnecessary. (just like the Collectors before him)

Yeah, it's a shame that the Reapers weren't allowed to exercise the entirety of their prowess and simply torch everything within their line of sight.

I never really had a problem with Leng, but I read the books so he was already an introduced character to the 'verse for me.

CloneShep was entertaining. Kai Leng was not. So yes, CloneShep was better.

To be honest I liked kai leng more, he seemed more like a genuine **** and less like a butthurt fanboy.
