Anybody else think CloneShep was a better antagonist in ME3 than Kai Leng?

I still lament there not being an option to make Cloneshep squadmate/LI.

Kai Leng killed someone with a toothbrush, how can that possibly not make him better than cloneshep.

Bad writting doesn't count.

Yeah, it's a shame that the Reapers weren't allowed to exercise the entirety of their prowess and simply torch everything within their line of sight.

You know I meant compelling.

They're both equally terrible antagonists. Cloneshep is redeemed slightly for being pure cheese whilst Kai Leng is saved because he has nearly no character to him whatsoever.

Of course CloneShep was better than Kai Leng. ME3 maingame has to have the crappiest antagonists ever in almost any story.

Don't tell Project Lazarus that.

I like to think that Clone Shep is the original and was driven mad by his imprisonment.

TBH I didn't really even register kai leng (apart from his cut scene badass upgrade - that completely destroyed any interest in his character). In the game he just gets steamrollered.
The clone, on the other hand, was actually really entertaining.

Taking on Leng at Thessia and Cronos as an EngineerShep with a heavily-upgraded Overload is hilarious.

I wont classify kai Leng as an antagonist, that's more TIMs title. Kai Leng is just henchman nothing more, nothing less so you don't expect much development thought had a backstory which could have lead to a better character overall if done right. Clone is intended to be a through away villain, made for comedic cheesiness and just for someone to fight against in the dlc so not to be taken seriousness. Its like comparing apples and chips, the two have little similarities to compare.

They were both painfully corny, but clone shep was at least somewhat comedic(as was intended), Kai Leng was just a Raiden/Hayabusa wannabe.

That would be some serious narcissism :o.

Clone Shep was definitely a better villain than Kai Leng. Leng was only another Troy Baker anime-ish ninja henchman only there to stop Shepard at the most inconvenient of times. Clone Shep had a connection to Shepard and had much more deviant plans. They were a little goofy but it made you hate him/her for what she was trying to do to you. Now they just needed to make a clone of Garrus...

I'm still sad they didn't go for the gender-bender clone. That would have made for a fun meta-reference.

CloneShep is the best antagonist in the series tbh.

Meer said he would've enjoyed that, in an interview. He thought it would've been interesting as well. Appearance-wise though it would've been odd, since default male and female Sheps don't look anything alike and trying to match with customs would be even worse.

Personally I liked seeing my custom in double, but the inverted clone idea would be fun too.

To be honest, I don't quite understand all the "Kai Leng sucks" sentiment on BSN. He's not even close to one of my favorite antagonists, but I didn't especially expect him to be. He's there to supply a few cutscenes and two boss fights, and that's about it. Is he fairly one-dimensional? Sure, but so were Captain Wasea, Dr. Saleon, the Blue Suns guy organizing the attack on Garrus, and a bunch of other villains who served a limited purpose.

CloneShep is more interesting than Leng, but (s)he's also impossible to take 100% seriously. For starters, if creating a clone like that is possible in the ME Universe, I find it hard to believe that we wouldn't have stumbled across mercs trafficking the technology, or krogan trying to clone themselves to compensate for the genophage, or *something* weird happening other than Cerberus creating a spare Shepard and then doing nothing with him/her.

It's not that hard to beat Kai Leng as an antagonist in ME3... There was clearly something missing there. He was mostly anoying.

Possibly cost-prohibitive. There's a ton of cool scientific stuff we could do today - some of it dealing with cloning - but there's not much economic incentive to doing so, so it doesn't get funded.
