Yeah, it's a shame that the Reapers weren't allowed to exercise the entirety of their prowess and simply torch everything within their line of sight.

""Reapers""

Eh.  It's either they're nerfed and we get a distraction like the Cerberus indoctrinated servants, or we get blasted to hell.

Kai Leng was crap, and so was the CloneShep. Clone Shepard was fairly weak as an antagonist for the Citadel DLC. Brooks played her part well, but she always gets CLAYMORE TO THE FACE!!!!

Gotta say that CloneShep was better than Leng. Though both were cheesy, CloneShep's cheesiness is justified, due to whole theme of the Citadel DLC.

Leng had lots of potential, all of them wasted.

Up to this day, I'm still waiting for someone to tell me who the hell wrote Kai Leng in Mass Effect 3.

Kai Leng was better as a comic villain as he was in the comics.

Ya, one of them was an actual character and the other was basically a walking contrivance.

Dombrow maybe? I heard he wrote Thessia at least.

Whoever wrote a lot of it was under pressure, I think. Kai Leng's role had to be rewritten - along with Javik, Thessia, and parts of the VS. They were all tied together at one point. Kai Leng had a role similar to Maya Brooks in Citadel DLC. He was befriending the VS acting like an Alliance rep. And instead of Udina using a doctored video that showed Shepard killing the Salarian councilor, it was another story where Leng used a doctored video to show Shepard killed Ash/Kaidan's partner (they were already Spectres at this point and had their own team).

Someone said it before, but I think ME3 would have been a bit different had Drew not left the writing team completely (to do a game that you could say was a flop).

""Reapers""

Avina: I have no information on a "Reaper."

Kasumi: They're really selling the "Geth did it" message. I bet you can't even say "Reapers" without inciting a panic. Reapers!

Shepard: Ooooh! Do it again!

Kasumi: Reapers!

Shepard: Ooooh!

Kasumi: Reapers, Reapers, Reapers!

Shepard: Oooooh!

Garrus: I'm surrounded by idiots...

[Fill in Character Name]: You actually think you're *the* Commander Shepard? Oh, all this time I thought you were a clone. Hey guys look, it's the real Commander Shepard!

Shepard: You're mocking me, aren't you?

[FICN]: Oh no, no no no, no. - Commander look, a Reaper!

Shepard: Where?!

[FICN]: (Laughs hoarsely followed by knee slapping)

ME3 Kai Leng sucked because of lack of character and not doing anything without help.

I had wikied the guy before ME3, because I thought he was going to be opposite of Shepard if Shepard was sadistic racist a-hole even more then Renegade Shepard was. Not to mention I did expect maybe Shepard and Leng had meet sometime during their N7 training but it wasn't so.

BW just threw in some book characters and didn't bother at least give codex entry to bring people up to speed about what Leng and Anderson history was.

BW either expects that all the fans have read the crappy comics or novels (expect for the one that no true ME fan would consider cannon) or they expect us to read their minds.

So the Clone wins for being a better villain then ME3 Leng, but had Leng been like his novel self it would have been a different story.
Oleg is probably the best villain in ME3 because unlike the Reapers, TIM, Leng even the clone, because he actually challenge more on somewhat personal (with Aria at least) and tactical level.

He doesn't have a boss fight, still he was what Cerberus should have been in ME3.

ME3 sucks in a lot of areas which is sad, but that's what happens when you have no clue how to end a trilogy then do the Matrix thing and put in a lot of explosions and then chooses to end on a cheap explanation.

I did not like cloneshep or Kai Leng.
Cloneshep wa a joke as it was obvious the girl was part of the trap that anyone with any sense would have figured out.

With the Dark Energy plot floating around? Thanks, but no thanks.

I'll take Mac's story anyday.

For all we know Drew might have never used the Dark Energy plot or would have changed it to something else entirely. Honestly, comparing the two endings is like comparing the taste of apples to zeclutu berries. I think Zinoviy's comment stems more from the idea that he liked the Mass Effect games more when Drew was the head writer.

Marauder Shields was a better antagonist than Kai Leng. At least he had a valid reason for existing.

Purely going by how annoying they were, Kai Leng for sure. I also think he'd make a better villian for that reason. If a villian isn't annoying, how much of a villian is he really?

But you never really got to know him very well, his origins, his agenda etc. You're basically fighting some bad guy that is harder to kill than your average bad guy.
