I know this is really REALLY old news, but I am miles away from finding a solution to this mess... Would someone please help me?

I started up with Alistair with my female noble human, but decided to go for Leliana since I hadn't tried that before. I got together with her but changed my mind (she is one creepy woman... watching me sleep, what is that??).

However  There are no romantic options to choose from, just the ordinary "Ask away"-line he does. How do I get back together with him? I have already broken up with Leliana, WHAT MORE DOES HE WANT?

Very long way into the game btw, I have only but to go through the deep roads and redcliffe.

Please I will not end up alone...

I'm afraid you're probably out of luck if you don't have any flirt options left with Alistair. Be sure to explore the conversation options. There may be 2 possibilities left to restart it.

I'm pretty sure there's one more chance to flirt once you're in the Arl of Redcliffe's estate in Denerim during the Landsmeet.

The only thing I get when I ask him about the warden is "such as they are" and then there are no more options.


Thanks for the replies anyway. Hope I can get him back after I've rescued the arl.

What's his approval? Is he warm, friendly, or... ? And do you have the talk with him where he asks about your relationship with Leliana?

He's 100 approval.

After Leli told me she loved me, I had that talk with him. But are you supposed to ask him if he's alright after that, like you do with Leliana? Cause I did not do that with him, Maybe that's the problem?

But I had read Alistair could forgive you at least once if you go back to him after hooking up with another companion. I left Leliana for him but he doesn't seem to remember our previous relationship before Leli (I know that doesn't make sense..). I have made it to Denerim now and I am preparing for the Landsmeet with rescuing the queen etc... And all I STILL get is the "ask away"-option.

If it doesn't work before the Landsmeet, I will have to arrange a political marriage with the guy and hope he warms up later on!

If you were interested, I got Alistair to agree to an arranged marriage. Not quite the same, but I got him and now we live happily ever after. Somehow.

If you haven't done the Redcliffe quest series yet, then giving Alistair his mothers amulet has the chance to restart a romance if I remember correctly. He says something like 'I can't believe you actually remembered', and one of the options is 'of course, you're special to me'.

 

I haven't actually romanced Alistair in years, all my recent playthroughs have been Morrigan centric, so I don't know if I'm misremembering orrrrr but I definitely remember the amulet restarted one of my romances were I dumped him by accident.

I know that you can restart the romance as late as the Landsmeet arc, by giving him Duncan's shield.... there's a romance starter in that dialogue, if his approval is high enough.

 

Depending on where you are in the game and of you've expended his other dialogue, that might be your best shot... he's got eleventy-billion starter lines, but it sounds like you've expended all of his regular conversation. (Alimancer pro tip: hold back his most obvious romance starter line - "Has anyone ever told you how handsome you are?" - for emergency situations... that's gotten my Wardens a happy ending more than once.)

 

ETA - Wait... I just realized that you haven't done Redcliffe! Assuming that means you haven't been to Redcliffe at all yet, you won't have any problem fixing things if you are careful in your dialogue choices... Alistair has some location-specific conversation that opens up, starting as soon as you enter the village.

^^ If Alistair agreed to an arranged marriage, Redcliffe's over with the location specific stuff, but giving him the amulet, if it hasn't been been given yet, has openings, as well as giving Duncan's shield.  I think there might even be a chance to restart during the endgame.
