You know why people romanced Alistar all the time?  Because as far as game models went, he was the biggest POA in that entire game.  Even straight guys were making their female characters get a piece of that.

The lesson is clear, make romance options hot, the hotter the better.  That is all.

PS, dwarves need not be hot, just make their chest hair longer, and the beards thicker on the females.

YOU FOOL!!! Do you know you've done, we're doomed with another romance thread.

But to get on-topic: no one can compare to the beauty of Morrigan.

I made my female character crack onto Alistair because she was a mage, and I was hoping for the classic story:

Boy meets girl.
Girl is an abomination.
Boy executes girl.

It had nothing to do with "adorkableness."

What's POA? I googled.
Portable Object Adapter
Piece of A**
Place of Articulation
Plan of Action
Point of Access

Mike Laidlaw said something in response to a request/demand/question such as this in one of the panels during Pax Prime. I find it fitting for this thread:

"First off, I would ask you to check your privilege, and to not enforce any sort of degree of physical beauty as a measure of attractiveness. Secondly, I would remind you that you are responsible for the visual appearance of all the characters. And lovingly suggest you **** right off." :P

The irony of behaviour:

1. Spends 60 hours to align dialogue for cheesy (pants on) kissy scenes.
2. Perfectly happy that romance interest dies (regularly) in battle.

Not too worried about this one, tbh. Dragon Age hasn't had a physically repulsive one yet. Romance is entirely optional anyway. If the LIs don't float my boat I'll just give it a miss.

That about sums it up.  Different looks for those that have different types.   For example, I fully support dwarven romances in Inquisition (and beyond as well.)  I probably wouldn't persue one on my first playthrough, but I think it should be there.  The great thing about physical beauty, once you mentally get past our society's preconception, is how subjective it is.  It truly is in the eye of the beholder.

I found this thread a little sad to be honest.  In the BW games I've played (Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age series and Baldur's Gate series,) there has been something for just about everyone.

I thought female gamers romanced Alistair not only because of his good looks but interesting personality, great voice actor, strong background story. Could be wrong though.

Not just female gamers either.  There is a mod that exists to allow male Wardens to romance him as well. ;)

Some troll decides to make a romance topic to stir up the masses and naturally everyone falls in line. I mean, seriously guys, just ignore it. People will get a civilized discussion with the occassional stupid remark going, then the usual suspects come in here to scream about how we're all just sex-starved teenaged boys living in their Mum's basement, and in the end the thread is closed because people are throwing poop at each other.

It's the same. Every. friggin'. time.

Never romanced Alistair. I don't even have the achievement for it, and will never get it because I refuse. My female characters will never touch him either. And as far as hot characters go, Morrigan was the only character capable of being called hot when it comes to Origins. :P

I want Morrigan and Leliana to be fat and obese. I find them rather attractive after they've packed on a few pounds.
