It wasn't just Red Crossing that happened prior to The Exalted March though. Before the Divine called for holy war the elves had control of one of Orlais' biggest cities and were marching on their capital.

Which still doesn't negate my point that all sources indicate humans were waiting for the first excuse to attack the elves. =/

I know a solution to the Elf problem.

One systematic Holy Exalted March between all the Kingdoms could in theory neutralize the Elven clans + their warriors, hunters, and mages and the Elven women will be spoils of war for the victors and since Elven DNA is recessive, no need to worry about Elven children.

And I'm suddenly reminded why I want an independent Dales for the Elvhen.

By all means, one area where all the knife ears are concentrated would save months of endless tracking and I can only imagine all those fine lasses just waiting to be rescued by Templar vanguards.

Ahh....

You don't think losing a major city and almost losing another is sufficiant reason to begin a war? I think by the time elves are bearing down on one's captial, then the "first opportunity" to attack is already gone.

Considering that the Elves were the ones who struck first, and were the ones who occupied a huge part of Orlesian territory, and even besieged the capital (and according to the wiki succeeded in sacking it), I would say that it was the Elves who was just waiting for an excuse to attack.

I'm saying the human version of The Dales Codex Entry indicates they declared war on the elves after the supposed attack on the "defenseless" Red Crossing. Sources indicate they were looking at an excuse to attack and pounced on the first one.

They started the war, the elves fought back, they invaded, conquered, repossessed, subjugated, and converted the people whose land they likely wanted anyway (thanks to the damage from the previous Blight), they weren't shy about taking since they'd already started conquering their neighbors, and who they wanted to convert to their expanding religion already.

The elves taking Val Royeaux (the Chantry capitol of the world, and the central location of the people that many sources indicate would not stop trying to force them to convert them to their religion) came after the war and possible invasion declared on them. Humans didn't jump at the chance to declare war and send armed forces into the Dales? Elves wouldn't have struck back or attacked Val Royeaux.

The Orlesians sent armed troops into Dalish lands after being told to leave the first time.Sending a armed force into a nation that asked to leave is practically begging for a fight.

But its Elves.

Come on man! Elves are never in the wrong because they are elves and "reasons".

It doesn't really help the Dales started the invasion when Orleis was at a all time week point after fighting a blight and other wars...

But its Elves so just give them a break because its some pointy eared people. People with pointy ears are always in the right no matter what. Because having pointy ears mean something and pointy ears.

I hope genocide and mass rape isn't incorporated into a story element.

Genocide not incorporated into the story element of a BioWare game?

BAHAHAHAHA!!!

Oh wow.

But yeah a crusade for booty is a crusade a lot of young men would die for, especially in Thedas.

Yeah, like mind their own business in their own country and then defending said country when invaded by armed forces sent after they made it clear they didn't want to be converted. Selfish goats.

When?I already know you have some sort of problem with me but what exactly have I given the elves a pass for?I already admit they were hostile to outsiders so care to point out how me and the so called others have excused the elves of anything?

Because it's acknowledged by some of us that the Chantry version of what transpired to the Dales isn't the only historical account there is? Or because some people are disinclined to entirely trust the Chantry narrative because of the invasions that befell Nevarra, Kirkwall, and Ferelden?

Uhm... No they didn't? IF you are going by the Dalish codex entry, which is absolute and utter bull**** and isn't even worth the cumstain in a teenagers underwear, then you should be able to differ between the CHANTRY and ORLAIS. The Dalish codex entry, can be interpreted as the Chantry sent in their Templars, but as you should know, despite the two being closely tied together, the Chantry and Orlais are not the same.

I keep saying that I think the templars referenced in that entry are the ones that joined in the Exalted March that conquered the Dales. The preceding sentence mentions that missionaries prior to the war and the following sentence mentions the elves being scattered form Halamshiral after the war.
