Okay I had to say, since I am a guy. I do like some sexuality in my rpg's but why should I feel bad because of it? I think having a mixture is okay. But don't sterile the whole game because some women think because there is some cleavage or skin showing that it isn't politically correct. It is a fantasy game and leave me to my damn fantasy.
Think about what you said.

The answer is obvious: have all the characters run around naked. That'll even the playing field.
Or make all characters dress in drag.

Ya a 900 year old warrior wearing skin tight leather with her boobs showing, why does Liara have proper armor then? There is no excuse for her armor.Killdren88 wrote...

I don't remember female clothing or armor in being particularly bad in DA. Always seemed fairly practical.
Now ME on the other hand lol
What's bad about Mass Effect? Asari Dancers are meant to be skimpy...As for the combat armor. I'm no woman, but wouldn't putting on Male combat armor crush your breast thus creating discomfort? I thought it made sense for female armor. No discomfort.
Jack, Miranda, Samara, Jacob, Pyjak - just to name a few.
Miranda has no excuse I'll agree with that She could wear combat armor that matches her personality at least. Plus Biotic Barriers.
Jack also has no Excuse, But at least you have an alternate costume for her that covers more. But her excuse it matches her personality much like Isabella. Plus Biotic barriers.
Samara on the Other hand I Assume she wear standar justicar garb That at least is combat armor.. It's manuverable and much like Jack it matches her character. Also Biotic barriers.
Edit for typos.

See, I don't even have a problem with their design, I understand it from that whole "giving personality", but I also understand that it can be immersion breaking for people - which is a valid reason to argue against that in the future. In Dragon Age though, I've never felt anything really "immersion" breaking in terms of the outfits your companions can wear, even Isabela, which I adore - I love her character, but I can see why some gamers (males included) can take offense by it.
My only complaint with Bioware is since ME3 with their whole mindset of "more sexy" - like Ashley. So far from what I've seen for Inquisition, there doesn't seem to be a problem, at least so far.
I didn't really have a problem with their outfits outside of combat missions, but during that Bioware should've put more thought into that

I wouldn't care in the slightest if they made a male character who goes around shirtless and in tight pants (cough cough Iron Bull! cough cough) if it made sense for said character. So for me equality is not "let's get offended at the slightest implication women are sexual beings!".
@Mr.House:
No DLC, sorry xD.

This might be a hard to grasp, but some woman choose to portray themselves sexually. Others choose not to. Why does it seem so hard to believe that a "mature dark fantasy" would reflect how women act in real life? Insanity.

Bethany had cleavage well so did Varic that was the point of my thread as long as its equal im happy.
As long as its not the clasic 1 big guy in full plate and the girl in Lingery (the spelling was deliberate there.) unless there is a reason that is heck id be happy withh blatant nudity aslong as its equal i like the Crossed comics and its in there but theres a reason for it.
as long as the impractical armor is explaned im happy.
I dont see this as a Bioware thing it more that Bioware is a example of this done right.
remember for every guy stereing at Boobs theres a girl staring at Abs.

Actually it up to the player of what kind of fantasy they want. Because I am guy doesn't make it purely a men's fantasy game.

This made me lol. Just great
I never really noticed how the armors were represented for each gender in DA, which I guess is a good thing.
I definately noticed in ME, though. But I guess biotic barriers/shields explain everything...

But protective armor is the norm now for a mage protagonist, or mages in dangerous lines of work. Just check the backstories on those robe sets. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have put those in and gave them the best in-game stats. And the Champion of Kirkwall set was there before the other two I mentioned.Gwydden wrote...
@Youth4Ever:
Yes, in DA2 we got a few mage armors, which was awesome. It is certainly a trend I hope continues. But it is not the norm, and most rogue and mage companions in DA2 (when outfits became fixed) don't wear armor at all.
And Isbela and Varric are the only companions I remember not wearing armor at all - and most people still consider it ridiculous they didn't, especially Isabela as she fights up close to enemies. Don't know about Anders. Maybe he wears chainmail underneath his robes. Companions not wearing armor doesn't make a lot of sense to me, no matter who they are, and when female companions in particular fight with no armor or fight incredibly exposed, it needs to be addressed.
I don't see the harm in addressing it. If you disagree, fine, but I'll hold my opinion regardless and still support this thread and others like it.

I agree completely, but here's the issue: women are almost always made to be either exclusively sexual beings, or sexual beings before anything else. It's not the "slightest implication" it's the inescapable moist fact salaciously thrust into our faces. Like I said, I don't think we need to remove all of the "sexy armour", just make it gender/sex* equal. The offence for the most part is not at insinuating women can be sexual, but that they HAVE to be.Gwydden wrote...

*I know gender and sex are different things but in the context of the games they seem to be treated as the same thus far.

Isabela and Varric make sense to me though, they could use more traditional armor in a sense, but I like their armor style, but they could use a "light" type of armor. Doesn't seem so hard to design in my mind.
