About Alien. Man i´m pretty sure that NWN still is the game you can do the best thriller mods you can imagine. A game like alien isolation could be done with NWN 10 times better. You have all the door stuff, skills for hide and spot etc. and everything interactive vie objects and pre scripted animations trough phenotype changes and and and. Hah great tileset btw, ALien is still my alltime favourite movie and fully fleshed out creature :)

ALIEN is my favourite film too, Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress a close second...

 

Though it's all out chaos by the end, Alien vs Demoness begins with a lot of atmospheric, mysterious, murky Areas, implied menace and so forth... NWN handles what I needed remarkably well... Mind you, having the entire music soundtracks from all the Alien films in my hideously overcrowded Music folder probably helps a lot...

The Derelict Interior Tileset is now up on the Vault, on the PHoD ALIEN page. I've redone the Areas within the derelict in Alien vs Demoness and it all seems to work fine. The single loadscreen now has a 2da entry.

with the right lighting that set is creepy. If you want i could create some alphas for it. Hanging down "strange tubes" and biomechanical filthy vines or something like that and add it as a crosser. I wanted to start a little (just a little) alien mod too. The modern weapons work already, a tunnel gun (aliens 2) would be an immobile creature hostile to aliens only etc. that you can spawn in via an item. We have the model, the tileset and now we only need some little other things and voila a mod "incoming" is comming to cinema soon :) Damn im so in alien mod too.... i just watched the alien ressurection psx game... must be the only good alien game since the aliens for c64 hehe :)

 

And great work once again, thanks a lot for alien stuff :)

ALIEN vs DEMONESS 2  -  This Time It's War...

PHoD (and Luce) return to the Xenomorph fray with piles of (mostly) ALL NEW Alien Creatures!

Including - at long last, as I promised about a year ago - the Alien3 quadrupedal variant. Finally got it more or less done. It doesn't move like a dog or a cat or a bear so I can't use any of the standard BioWare animation bases so I'm having to create a completely new animation model for it. This is complicated by the fact that I have NO idea how to do that but am hitting key frames with big bricks anyway and, surprisingly, it works. Just a few glitches in some of its combat animations where it suddenly decides to throw its body parts about for no good reason. I seem to recall one or two of my "Dark Sun" creatures did that to start with but I got them to pack it in so it should all be sorted out soon.

And there's more to come. A LOT more. Not just more new Alien creatures but piles of new Alien placeables... Oh, and also the result of what you get when a facehugger attaches itself to a Demon... XenoInfernalis is coming. You have been warned.

A proper look at the new Alien Warriors...

There are two variants, the one above being more akin to Giger's original look for the creature in ALIEN whilst the one below is closer to the creatures in ALIENS.

Both are guaranteed hostile to everything but their own kind and will happily fall upon anyone they see and either bite fatally large lumps out of them, gob acid on them or drag them back to their hive to be hosts for more Aliens...

Aside from the beasties themselves, of whom there are several, there'll also be piles of Alien related Placeables coming in the second Hak... such as...

Of course, New Alien Warriors would be no good without their mother to tell them what to do... so here's the new version of the Alien Queen...

Now, if you're a ten foot tall maniacally capricious Demoness with a penchant for grappling Spleens, then obviously you just go fighting a creature like the Alien Queen hand to hand (although, come AvD 3, they end up grudgingly but instinctively on the same side against a common foe).

However, if you're some rubbish, squashy little Human or something, you've got NO CHANCE. So here's a handy PHoD Power Loader so you can all pretend to be Sigourney Weaver.

Well, actually, you can't really pretend to be Sigourney Weaver 'cause these Power Loaders are just Placeables and the moment I finished them the Queen came along and started pushing them over and mushing them anyway. Seems to have a certain hatred of them. Probably just doesn't like yellow.

What? You mean you WANT to be in there when the Alien Queen pushes it over and mushes it?

 

(Agreed, a Powerloader phenotype - though useless for Lucirath 'cause she's taller than the loader (and a lot stronger) - would be fun. I suspect it's possible but probably beyond my ability with the bricks I'm proficient in hitting stuff with. Biggest headache would likely be animations for the loader to get all the hydraulics to work and so forth, without which it would look a bit odd).

Maybe, just maybe, I'll tentatively give it a try and, in all probability, make a heinously rubbish mess of it.

That, my dear lady, is because you have never had the misfortune to have to bear witness to an PHoD Heinously Rubbish Mess TM. I tend not to post screenshots of those in order to avoid looking incompetent.

However, even if the Power Loader is just a Placeable, I have got a working Pulse Rifle weapon model done...

"I want to introduce you to a personal friend of mine, the M41a Pulse Rifle, with over and under 20 mm grenade launcher - feel the weight"

"Lieutenant, what do those pulse rifles fire?" "Standard 9mm light armour piercing caseless round - why?"

The only problem with the Pulse Rifle is that it's added to the Heavy Crossbow category. (I'm sure I recall reading that no additional ranged weapon types can be added to the game). Thus, you can either have a Pulse Rifle that goes "thud - twang" and fires crossbow bolts or you can have a Pulse Rifle that uses authentic Pulse Rifle sound effects and fires a sort of blurred muzzle flash sort of thing that looks quite good... but also causes every crossbow in the game to sound like a Pulse Rifle and fire 9mm ammunition...

Note also Placeable Aliens type Sentry Guns.

It should be possible for crossbows and pulse rifles to coexist, even though they are both Heavy Crossbow variants. I'm using Gylfi Gangler's Black Powder Guns in a setting which also has crossbows. Both the guns and the crossbows look and sound fine. IIRC it's done with scripting.

Talisstra:- Guillotinna's head is one of the PC heads from KotOR 2, one which Estelindis missed but which I recently converted to use for this character... However, I also have a PC pheno version. I'll be putting a page on the Vault soon for assorted miscellaneous bits and pieces and I'll put the head up there along with Neeshka and some other heads from KotOR that I've converted which Estelindis didn't so much miss as avoid 'cause they're nasty, rubbery uglyists.

I'll stick a link up on the PHoD Things thread when I've gathered it all together and posted it.

Demoness Tales being what it is, there's hardly any surprise that Lucirath's encounters with the Aliens sooner or later involve Hell. As a Renegade, Lucirath is rarely on good terms with her fellow Demons and, in AvD2, when a Demon Lord tries to get all heavy, she knocks nine kinds of crap out of him and leaves him in a heap... Before he recovers, along comes a Facehugger and next thing you know...

Enter XenoInfernalis...

Not only is it BIG and immensely strong, not only does it have horns as well as all the Alien's usual weapons, not only does it gob acid profusely but it also SPEWS HELLFIRE!

Naturally, this rampaging honker provides the final all-out battle of AvD2.

How much use an Alien from Hell is likely to be to anyone but me I have no idea, but if you want it, I'll throw it in the huge Weyland Yutani Corporation crate with everything else.

Have finished hitting the Nostromo with a singularly monumental brick...

Or at least, something that looks a lot like the Nostromo anyway. Theoretically, an M class starfreighter (that's a rather expensive piece of hardware - forty-two million in adjusted dollars) ought to be a bit bigger than I've made it, but there are practical limitations to how big I could make a NWN Placeable version that was a "useful" size. I mean, there's not much point to it if it's so titanically whopping you never see anything more than the landing gear unless you stand on top of a mountain the other end of a 32x32 Area. It's still a fairly impressive size as is...

In ALIEN, Ripley drops the Alien out of an airlock - not that this entirely deters it. In ALIENS, Ripley drops the Alien Queen out of an airlock - not that she doesn't almost go with her...

Seeing a pattern here, the Shabby Hyena weirdo has commenced attempts to make a working airlock through which things can be dropped... Considering various ways of simulating an explosive outrush of atmosphere and loose objects getting sucked through.

Results so far are spectacularly, amazingly, astoundingly, blisteringly, incredibly... not very good yet really... But there may be light at the end of the tunnel, assuming I can justify such a huge amount of faffing about for very little real purpose.

After all, Luce is from Hell. She doesn't drop things out of airlocks. She obliterates them into tiny pieces.

This is wonderful!!! Alien 1 & 2 are favorites SciFi movies of mine and I am totally amazed at the scale of your work for these cherished icons of my neo-creepy-gothico-future pantheon. The Nostromo atmospheric ship proportions seem mostly right to me. Its the space refinery that has titanic proportions (When Sigourney escapes at the end of the 1st movie, the shuttle coasts the industrial behemoth for quite a long time). Maybe you could improve the ship texture and landing legs. The hull pattern is more complex and darker, and the landing feet have 3 or 4 articulated "fingers" each i think. Any future plans to make a Ripley character ?

The Nostromo should be a bit bigger - observe the height of the landing legs as compared to Dallas and the others as they come and go from the ship in the 1st film. But as I said, I wanted it to be visible as more than just an underside in-game.

The landing legs I made are already grotesquely high poly (for what's essentially just a background object) and, although they do have "fingers" as you call them, they ARE too short, simply because they don't look believably capable of safely supporting the colossal gargantua parked on top of them, which is more important in this instance than rabid accuracy to the film version. The bridge isn't identical and there are various other differences anyway. It's not intended to specifically be the Nostromo in Demoness Tales, just a freighter of similar type... I was hoping to avoid adding any other parts and push the poly count up more, but the more I look at it, the more Physics keeps whispering "the landing feet need to be broader, the landing feet need to be broader..."

As to the texture, I hate it. I may creep up on it with a brick at some point, but I'm mostly polishing up the Dropships at present.

No plans for Ripley, since I'm not trying to recreate the films so much as the settings of the films as a backdrop to certain chapters of Demoness Tales.
