Never watched young justice or adventure time but Korra and the Clone wars is pretty damn brutal at times.

The cartoons you listed actually seem to have appealing qualities to both kids and adults. None of them are that incredibly shallow.

Are you implying that adults can't/shouldn't enjoy 30-minute cartoons or movies like Up or Wall-E simply because their family-friendly ratings and their ostensible target audience somehow instantaneously equate them with being nothing more than simplistic fluff only suitable for children? Or that any adults who watch those kinds of shows or movies are somehow less mature than other adults?

Children and adults enjoyed both of these Oscar-winning (and highly popular) animated films, and both films are intelligent, moving, and humorous - despite the fact that they're animated. Anyone who has ever watched Up for example is probably familiar with its incredibly touching opening sequence (something that a number of reviewers mentioned as I recall).

I may read George R.R. Martin and I may enjoy series like The Walking Dead or Mob City, etc. etc. - but I also love many of Pixar's movies and have enjoyed cartoons like the various Justice League and Batman series from the 90s. Ratings and the age of the intended target audience aren't necessarily indicative of the level of maturity, humor, or intelligence you might find in a given cartoon or animated film.

While I'm sure that there are shows that are simplistic out there, I find it somewhat hilarious that you seem to think you can make blanket statements about cartoons (and by extension, pass judgment on those who watch them).

Can anyone give me a real reason why I can not watch "kid" shows? A real reason, not an opinion. If someone can give me a real reason I will never watch a "kid" show again. I'm waiting.

Why do adults play video games? Or read comic books? Because some enjoy them, others don't. I personally find that some of the 'kids' cartoons such as Adventure Time and Regular Show have a lot better and funnier humor than many supposedly funny sit-coms aimed at an adult audience.

Korra has high production values and addresses sociopolitical issues such as social unrest and terrorism with its first season - The villain of Amon is more than your average saturday morning cartoon villain but that's all the credit one can give him. The artwork and overall design of the show makes it appealing for younger and older audiences alike. You know, like Batman: The Animated Series. This also counts for the first show. The characters aren't one dimensional and actually have arcs to pave way for interesting development and the voice acting is incredible. J.K. Simmons ftw!

I don't know that much about the rest of the examples though.

Because they are adults?

After a long day at work, sometimes I just want to turn off my brain and enjoy a simple show.

It's need to have blood and tities to be mature. Come on. It's seem to be a cause of '' I'm too old for this stuff and I don't want people to have a bad opinion of me because I might love this kind of stuff. So for fitting in I will make sure that I don't enjoy this stuff ''

It's like somebody who listen secretly to Lady gaga, but won't ever admit it to his/ her friend. Or even worse. To himself.

Remind me a lot of homosexual who refuse to be homosexual. Know what I mean ? They don't accept that they have strong sexual attraction toward people of the same sex. Because of shame.  The guilt of being a ''bad'' human. Evil human sometime.. Made by the propaganda of what you're supposed to be. How you're supposed to behave. How you're suposed to frigging live. If it's does not harm anybody . Who care ?

Why stop ****** ? Trust me. God don't care. You won't burn in hell or become deaf. Watching cartoon won't make you an inferior adult. Actually it might make you a better and more open adult. Embracing who you are. Does not stop you either from watching more ''intelligent and serious'' entertaiment. If you're secure in your adulthood you should not be fearful of others prejudice and be proud of enjoying your favorite show. What it is.. But I disgress. I am just ranting.

Glad to see GLTAS and Tron: Uprising were omitted from the OP's list of simple and childish cartoons.

Wow, this thread went down quickly.

Anyway, cartoons are for children of all ages. :P

I wonder how many kids grasped the secret police aspect of ATLA season 2. Or the loads of 70's/80's superhero homages of Megamind.

1.) Many children's shows nowadays do have material in them intended for adults.

2.) If you have children, it's easier to watch children's shows without any "blowback"-"adult" themes rubbing off on the kids, bizarre scheduling to keep the content away from the kids, etc.

3.) "Adult" is typically a euphemism for violent, offensive, vulgar, lowbrow, morally/ethically questionable, quasi-pornographic, and/or blatantly pornographic material. Every so often, it's really entertaining, but dealing with that crap nonstop can be tiring. Especially the pretentious crap that is violent for the sake of violent or porny for the sake of porny. Cmon. You're using ****** to cover up your ****ty writing. Have some class.

First off, Star Wars: The Clone Wars isn't a kid's show; it's a show for all ages.

Secondly, it's one of the best shows out there and the best CGI animated show there is. The action scenes are brilliantly done, the animation is great, the characters are well-developed, and Anakin and Obi-Wan actually act like they're "good friends" rather than unwilling partners always at each other's throats like how the prequels portrayed them. You actually believe what Obi-Wan said in A New Hope about Anakin being "a good friend."

Make no mistake: Star Wars: The Clone Wars was an exceptional series.

Simple and predictable? Have you ever watched Justice League (2001-2006)?
