Not a lot of differences besides the endings and talking with the Catalyst. But I was surprised that the scene where Shepard gets shot into the Citadel through the teleporter was different, and it was cool that the scene was extended before the Extended Cut which shortened it. I was surprised to have unlocked Synthesis on my first time since I grinded all the way through the story not caring about Side Missions at all....but maybe the reason was because of my N7 Spec Ops Asset and my Readiness at 78%. Yes, I had to delete all of my DLCs.
Just played w/o Extended Cut...

I'm not sure how it was longer pre-EC. I find there to be quite a number of differences. My squadmates actually charge the beam at my side instead of just sitting there and watching me sprint to my death. Then theres the Normandy evac instead of my squad just vanishing. The EC actually shows the end of our trip up the beam, whereas pre-EC we just appeared in the keeper tunnels. Theres the Crucible cutscenes. The Catalyst has way more dialogue and literally explains itself, all with the inclusion of the dialogue wheel. Oh, and there's the epilogues that show us the many varying states the galaxy is left in due to our decisions.

IIRC data mining showed that most of the package contents aren't compressed.

Yep, enough MP gives you plenty of EMS no matter what you do. Bio really should have given us a way to toggle this off.

No they are if I recall, the video format it uses is super compressed.

I always thought this was the point of the EC. It was not supposed to change anything. It was meant to give more information about the endings but not change anything. Although there is some merit to the idea that the after effects of destroy were changed but even that is subjective in my opinion.
But whether you liked or disliked the endings, the EC really only served reinforce that view point as it was just more of what was given in the orignal ending. At least that is how it worked out in my case; the EC simply confirmed my original opinion.

Looked it up. Robosexual is right. Bink is naturally compressed.
