Yeah, I figured that as well. I thought that it would come off as cliched, but they did a really good job with it.

Welp.
Holy ****, I didn't notice that. This show really drops a lot of details. Wait a sec, did that product even exist in 1995? Ah, whatever.
Anyone else seen the sixth episode because I loved it.

Yeah, I figured that as well. I thought that it would come off as cliched, but they did a really good job with it.
I was disappointed though. To me she is still "the wife" character. There is no depth whatsoever to her character. On the one hand, that's fine, because she is a side character and the focus is on the two mains, and they truly are the only characters with any depth (50% decent writing, 50% awesome acting).
But on the other hand, when she is really the only major female character on the show, you'd hope they'd do a better job with her. She isn't even a character now; she was a plot device to get the two guys at each other's throats.
I'm hoping the next few seasons will star some female detectives; that'd be great!
Changing topics... ahh yes!!! Finally in the present time!! Marty and Rust are going to talk
What will Rust reveal? I, too, believe he's been on the case since 2002. I think Rust is "our hero" of the show. Marty is a scumbag, but he's played with such delicacy by Woody that you still somehow love him. Amazing work by these guys.

Can't decide if the Yellow King is a Macguffin or if the Yellow King is Marty's father in law. Mary is gonna see something that makes him freak and it's related to his daughters. One thing I'm sure of is that this seasons finale will answer the question of the Yellow King, the murders and thus the main arc of this "investigation". Rust and Marty's character study will be concluded.
Also, I could see (even tho it would be a tad bit shallow) Marty being the Yellow king, as the symbolism and evidence is there.
But..... I think the "king" of the group of 5 (as evident by the doll scene, and the Long Star beer can men) is Marty's Step father. I think these girls are being sacrificed by the rich elites to bring back the Gods of the Cthulu mythos.
Answers are coming. And this show has been so, so fantastic and refreshing in the tv landscape of overrated shows about Zombies, Dragons and Kings and "mad men". It's refreshing to see a cop show that focuses on character much like The Wire and Shield did. It's just nice to watch. Great, great show.

I have always like Mathew McConaughey as an actor but he he really seems to have hit is stride recently with some amazing roles. Not bad considering he was best known for romantic comedies 10 or so years ago.And what a great actor Matthew McConaughey turned out to be in the recent times, True Detective is just the crown jewel. I don't think today there's any other actor in his same level.
OMG. ROFLMAO. Now I have find out which films these stills come from. I didn't know that Mathew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson had worked together before. Then again this should not surprise me, they make a good team.

The accents are getting more and more outrageous
You'd think for these smaller parts they could at least find southern actors. I'm not that picky.
So we finally see Scarface. Is this the Yellow King? I have quite a bit of trouble keeping up with this storyline. The video that Rust showed Marty *shudder* it involved multiple people, right? So "The Yellow King"/Scarface (if they're the same person) isn't the sole murderer/rapist here. I was thinking we were looking at a whole group of nasties, not just one killer.
The gender fluid boy in the bar who talked about the men in animal hats taking pictures of him while he slept (obviously drugged)... I am guessing this is the same group of murderers/rapists? They just weren't murdering/raping at that point? Only taking pictures of sleeping nude children? (I say "only"... *shudder*)
I'm trying to draw connections here... and so Tuttle has been murdered/committed suicide. So he's obviously not the ringleader. This Scarface seems deranged/mentally slow. How can he be a ringleader? Obviously, he's a nutter. But a ringleader? I don't know.

He may not even be the leader of the group. It's just one of those wait-and-see things.

Isn't there just one more episode to this season? I suspect we will be left with one heck of a cliff-hanger.
I can't imagine who they will find for next season, that could possibly be on par with the stellar performance we've seen thus far.
It's nice to have some really good shows to look forward to watching.

I doubt they since it's the only season with these two main characters.

This is too big of a conspiracy to Cohle/Hart dismantle, like the title says (most detective cases are not finished so True Detective) I think the big part of this case will be unresolved by the end of the season. They'll get the lawnmower man but I don't think they'll connect up to the "Yellow King" (who I think is the senator Eddie Tuttle) and the other cases of child molestation because of the force of the Tuttle family in Louisiana.
I've liked this seventh episode, it was more straight forward and put to rest many of the fan theories floating on the internet but the writing and acting continues awesome.
